The off camber corners at Abu Dhabi don't exactly help the situation either, its hard to drive them alone so trying to set someone up for a pass is too hard.

To quote Kimi, 'The first few corners are quite good, but the rest of it is shit'.

I have no idea why they have off camber corners there. It just doesn't work.

Yas Marina would greatly benefit from the increasing the exit width and banking the corners of Turns 7 and 9.

Turn 7 has all that space to the right which could be used to extend the track width right to that armco.

What I don't get is that they had limitless budget, limitless land and it could have been one of the very best tracks but it turned out to be one of the worst.

Because they wanted to build grandstands near to the track, over a run off and have the track go under the hotel.

That's probably why Turkey created so many passing spots because the corner onto the back straight was not too slow and there was a massive kink right in the middle

Correct. Turkey's S3 and pit straight was ideal for overtaking. T9/T10 was medium speed, which allowed cars to close and then 'Faux Rouge' allowed the driver behind to close up - like when Vettel tried to pass Webber in 2010. This then allows the drivers to take alternative lines through the mickey mouse chicane and onto the pit straight. A slow hairpin by itself just doesn't work.

If that is indeed correct, then why did we see so many poor Turkish GP's with very few overtakes?

for a moment there I thought it was the latest Belgian GP to date. But apparently it was driven on September 16th in 2007.

any idea which year this was? more info would be cool.

must have been before 1998 with the police reforms. These guys really were tough and had so much power to do with you whatever they wanted. Thankfully a bit more relaxed now.

They have added artificial grass behind the kurbs at Pouhon to replace the green paint thats been there since the gravel was removed.

Rather unsurprising press conference; virtually every question from the floor is for Michael and most of them concern his 300th anniversary.

The one about Button's Spa jinx is mine, even if he doesn't really have a massive jinx there :p
