I'm liking that this appears to be a proper old school style street track and doesn't have acres of tarmac runoffs on the corners where someone can chicken out their overtake attempt, they better be sure about that passing attempt since there's a wall on the inside designating the edge of the track, not a white line.

it looks wide and it's going from straight to 90 degree corner to straight to 90 degree corner etc.

I like the look of it. Seems like its going to be pretty fast for a street circuit & fairly wide as well, Also seems like there will be a couple decent overtaking possibilities so seems like there's a decent chance of seeing some good racing.

If they keep the racing line close to the walls, i.e not put kerbs out well away from the inside of the corners...then that last third of the lap is going to basically be full throttle.

Have to say from the first onboard I'm a little disappointed in it to be honest. Looks rather bland but I am hoping I am wrong.

Reminds me of an American streettrack, that is a good thing.

It's a shame it's in Baku though, might aswell be gone in two or three years.

the scenery looks very good, liked the trees over the track in the first sector. track seems pretty fast and long, despite having a tight sector between turns 8 and 11

I like how the edge of the castle was completely unprotected.

I'm surprised this is supposedly up to fia standards? Mind you, it looks great, but i thought Monaco was an exception to fia safety standards.

It looks insanely wide, but that diesn't matter since off the racing line will be slippery as hell. Can't somebody develop a surface material where everythinh has equal grip all the time. Or better yet, simpke concrete on the ideal line and more grippier tarmac on the outside.

According to a friend who works for rFPro and has built the track for multiple teams, the castle will have a barrier lining it.

Yeaa that's what has been said. The barriers around the track are far from complete.

It is like Detroit at the start with a lot of 90 degrees corners but it started to get more mixed with very wide straights and run offs. Noticed the straight before the fort/castle seems very narrow!

Yeah, makes sense, but I found it funny that for the test drive it was unprotected. You never know when a random Azeri driver can oversteer into it.

he was running so slow that car would get smashed but the wall could just get a mark from the paintjob

so if there are barriers, the track will be narrower

All the trash talk before the race and this one might actually be a good one instead. Old skool looks (TREES!!!), nice flow for the track itself, no insanely big run-off areas anywhere, nice old buildings and an actual castle! It's like a Monaco of the east!

I was very doubtful about this race ever taking a place after how New Jersey went on, but this one seems to be legit and happening. And it's not a soulless Tilkedrome. Damn F1, Monaco, Montreal and Baku all in a row is a tast trio. Make them all stick in the calendar like this and you can call it a small triple crown. 8)

That Baku circuit reminds of one of those fictional ones you get in Gran Turismo or the old Forza's where they make up a track from real public roads. Looks half decent to me

so let's hope they keep paying a big money to Bernie, no to maintain this one, but to maintain other traditional tracks

Same, especially the castle section which was very Gran Turismo.

the onboard when the castle towers or remparts appeared was really breathtaking and something you wouldn't expect. I just hope we will still see some of it when the fences are put there.

off course it is not yet finished, but here and there it looks a bit dangerous.

looking forward to this one.

The Rome track? That was great. I preferred Seattle though.
