I really hope F1 cancels the Bahrain GP....like Damon Hill said today, If F1 is making the event, it'll affect F1's reputation so badly world wide.

By making the GP, the international community would accuse F1 of being an accomplice to Bahrain's Monarchy. Being accomplice of a government that murders political opponents and activists is beyond criminal, it's immoral. If Bernie takes F1 there with the argument the circus doesn't have anything to do with it, it's also questionable. The UN could move an action against Formula One Management for such act.

The second year in a row that Bahrain is living a social turbulence, you simply cannot (in legal terms) say you don't know what's going on. The image of F1 as a sport could be damaged in this story. Sports in general are cultural instituitions that deals with health, peace, tolerance among many other democratic ideas, F1 deliberately cannot make the GP.

Best cancel the Chinese and Abu Dhabi GP's while your at it then.

(Not that I'm saying for one minute that the race should go ahead, but if you're going to cancel one race for Government actions, what about the other races? Abu Dhabi has sent troops to Bahrain, and China, well everybody knows what goes on there...)

Where you gonna draw the line?

Well you can draw the line between the China and Bahrain at the moment. Whilst the Chinese government sucks, they aren't currently shooting protesters in the street, which is still happening in Bahrain.

This race is either happening in 2 weeks time or not at all for 2012 and probably ever...

The calendar at the end of the season - the only time it would be postponed until - is already ridiculously packed:

Suzuka - Oct 7
Korea - Oct 14
India - Oct 28
Abu Dhabi - Nov 4
USA - Nov 18
Brazil - Nov 25

I hope they cancel it, but I can't see it happening. I just have a terrible feeling something's going to go badly wrong if F1 goes there, not necessarily a driver or someone major but someone like a mechanic or journalist (although F1 Racing isn't going to Bahrain, but anyway). It's still unstable there, no matter how it is presented to the outside world.

I won't be watching the race if it goes ahead anyway

Unless you have prior commitments (hence the reason), you will be. Any fan that goes 'I won't be watching through principle' is just bullshitting. You'll watch the highlights, find out the result and still support the sport.

Well hard not to know the winner since it would be plastered everywhere.

Cancellation is likely to come during the Chinese GP weekend. But who'll blink first...

Instead China just throttles the amount of information that comes out of the country borders to ensure the world doesn't really fully understand or appreciate what is actually go on there.

I do believe canceling last year's Bahrain GP was an impressive fact considering F1's indifference towards local political problems. Hopefully there'll be sensibility again.

Otherwise, I just hope to see a little wisdom from the protesters in not putting foreigners at risk. Maybe the mass flux of foreigners going to the country in case the GP happens might be a good way to spread their cause.

If F1 could be more involved with important causes, people within it could make the difference.

It is written in the FIA rules that a race must not interfere with politics.

The very fact that BIC's official slogan for the race is 'UniF1ed: One nation in celebration' is startling in how they've not been told to use another one...

So Bahrain circuit officials are saying LMFAO are playing but the band's website says they're in Venezuela?
