Leave it to the FIA and F1 to turn every incident into a cringe-fest. It was worse to read than watching a Toto Wolff interview after any Mercedes incident.

This brings up a thought I had, anyone knows a good read about the jump from lower categories to F1?

Where a driver describes in detail what it's like to drive an F1 after being in F3/F2/F.Renault, and why there are bucketloads of perfectly competent and competitive drivers/champions in the lower series and other motorsports, on cars that would scare the most daring amateurs, but can't do jack when sat in an F1. Not saying that Palmer is part of this category, but he was not this much of a farce in GP2.

F1 seems to be a special breed. You bring some of the most talented drivers ever, even from top open wheelers (Andretti, Zanardi, DaMatta) and suddenly they start looking like complete toddlers. I would love more insight on that.

If you compare Andretti and 1999 Zanardi with their teammates, they both failed big time. Enough has been written about the possible causes, but in the end they were both a disappointment.

If I was Carlos Sainz I would absolutely get the hell out of Red Bull with all the comments coming from them now. Essentially its "we own you, how dare you make any of those comments, we control you and your future not you, you have no say in the matter you little shit". After all the F1 careers of Buemi, Alguersuari and Vergne worked out soo well by totally giving control of their careers to Helmut Marko.

Williams seems good at this. Back before the first ever Bahrain GP, they managed to make a "promotional" event there driving an older car, but a lot of people thought it was just a way to get a taste of the track before everybody else - especially since back then they were all scared shitless about sand issues on engines.

Fair play to them - if their cars are consistent enough that setup changes from a 2014 car can be applied to this year's, then it's not even really a loophole. Bear in mind that Stroll is inexperienced enough that even generic setup changes that can be translated from any slicks and wings car would probably help him.

It was worse to read than watching a Toto Wolff interview after any Mercedes incident. no, he did not get the penalty he deserved. participate in your local karting series and you'll find you get a dq pretty quick for that kind of driving. however, the penalty should have been given in-race, and i'm satisfied that they didnt penalize him further. his apology seemed sincere. we know vettel knew he had fucked up because he repeatedly dodged the issue when asked, and setting a precedent that its ok to emotionally retaliate against another driver with a vehicle is in fact damaging "to the wider family of motorsports" and needed to be addressed

The thing that grated me most was how Vettel couldn't admit any fault at the time. The penalty was fair I think but his denial and "what dangerous driving " when informed of the penalty annoyed me most, just man up and admit yeah I fucked up there and then. Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk

Renault have confirmed that the second test they have planned with Kubica is to 'assess his capability' for a comeback. It'd be hilarious if they decided he is and then Ferrari pinch him.

If he's fit, I'd kick Palmer out ASAP and put him in for a few races before the end of the season. He can't be worse really, just let him cumulate laps and learn to get back his endurance and feelings by cruising at the back of the field. That's already what Palmer is doing, except Kubica would actually improve doing so

That is unless Williams signs him to replace Massa (assuming Stroll Snr allows that to happen).
