Lotus group isn't paying the F1 project anymore since 9 months!
They won't extend their contract after 2012...

Suprised this has not been posted yet: this is the layout of the proposed street circuit at Mar del Plata for the 2013 Argentine Grand Prix.

What? And just two weeks ago Proton said that they'll give an extra 90 million dollars for the Lotus to get them to be more competitive next year. :?

Looks fairly shit. Tunnel between T2 & 3? Anyway, give me San Luis if F1 wants to go to Argentina not Valencia Mk2.

Looks more like a grandstand. They would never build a tunnel because it would be considered "unsafe".

Now confirmed by Autosport.

Looks like Bahar's magic money tree is beginning to dry up.

Anyway, what is that shit?
All this fight over all this months (or years) between Renault and Caterham...
They could just have kept the names Renault & Lotus and fine... Who thinks that Fernandes is going to rename his team again?

It looks like someone took the worst corner combinations from abu dhabi and rearranged them a bit.

So, they're realising Motorsport is expensive.

Lotus hasn't made profit in over 15 years. Took out $440 million loan last year. Bahar thought it was good idea to spend millions on motorsport program. Well what can you say, Dany Bahar is a fucking moron.

According to an article on a German motorsports website the right to use the name Lotus will remain at Genii in exchange for releasing the Lotus Group from all sponsoring obligations and debts. Furthermore the Lotus Group will still be allowed to use the F1 team for marketing purposes. They just have terminated all fincancial contracts and the team will remain in ownership of Genii. The loss of the Lotus money is not critical for Genii as they have signed Microsoft and Unilever as sponsors at the beginning of the season.

Seems like Lotus Group is a little bit in a tight spot financially and Genii has made the best out of it by securing the brand name for the near future. It was not said how long Genii can use the name Lotus.

LMAO, so all the money Lotus paid to get the Lotus name back in their own hands was for nothing. Because now it is in the hands of Genii, lol.

Autosprint and Crash.net showing a different and better layout, without that silly chicane, and the runoff areas suggesting it is run in a clockwise direction rather than the other drawing above

AFAIK, they still have the Lotus name but they have allowed Genii to use it for free in return for Genii not taking them to the cleaners over unpaid sponsorship which Lotus owe.

----------------------------

This is almost funny. This is exactly what people predicted when Bahar started mouthing off. Too much ambition, not enough money, and it has all unraveled within 2 years.

Next to go will be the Lotus engines in IndyCar.
