To whom it may concern... Sprint Race sucks

As many on here predicted, it's really just proving to be the first 30% of the race with a red flag followed by a standing start on Sunday. So I don't really get the point of it.

They'd be better off allowing Friday's qualifying to form the grid for Sunday (I still can't get over the idea of the fastest driver outright not starting on pole), and then doing something similar to F2 for the sprint race (i.e. reverse grid) and make it a race just for entertainment. I mean that the original intent wasn't it?

Reverse grids carry the danger of Mazepin starting on pole and causing havoc. There's every chance he will stick around in F1 for a while. That would immediately throw the concept under the bus not even FIA PR department would be able to handle

You just know how bad it was that Ross Brawn has to defend this one in public. I feel like some media are quickly losing patience and start to call it like it is. Even behind the scenes PR doesn't work - the emperor is naked.

What a load of mumbo jumbo. No amount of dressing will make a McDonald's hamburger look and taste like a filet mignon.
If sprint races became the norm and you did an entire season's worth of them, I feel like today's sprint race would be reflective of ~90% of them. So I sure hope this doesn't become a permanent fixture. Why would the top runners risk a low percentage move and end up at the back for when the big points are handed out. I think Brawn and his PR honcho's will soon have to admit this is largely a failed experiment.

the race seems all set up for a Verstappen victory

that's why a SC will help Hamilton to get into the lead and be unreachable for his 100th win

Thank you Checo!

TL;DR
Checo called the sprint format "very boring" and said that it "doesn't bring anything".

The sprint race format sucks and it isn't bad just for it. We can clearly see F1 organizers are making a big effort to shove it to us. And this effort going against all the evidence that we have make lots of fans sceptical of surveys or whatever legit action to hear the fans.

Might as well hand Verstappen the title now tbh, not only the fastest car on the grid but everything is coming up Max with the way things fall too

This was expected to be an easy Mercedes track since it doesn't have much for the superior Red Bull downforce to claw back the HP deficit, yet he looks like he's going to claw out a win here too, and be able to lead into the tracks which will suit his car more, when Lewis needed to get a win here and hope the Mclarens or Ferraris would mix it up so he had a buffer into the tracks that wouldn't favour him

And if Lewis couldn't pass them in the sprint, then it's going to be the pitstops at the earliest he'll get by and by then Max will be so far gone he'll need a SC to catch him
(also surely Mclaren will cover Lewis' pitstop with one of their drivers and use the other to get an under/overcut on him and at least one of them will still be ahead after the pitstops, so outlook doesn't look good for Mercedes tomorrow

Good luck Bottas trying to come through the field too, if he's lucky he might get 10th by the end, probably all though the pitstops too once he's past the Haas/Alfa easy pickings

So err, to sum up,......any rain expected tomorrow? :?

no rain but considering driving standarts by some one or four quite sure we'll have SC to scramble the field

I don't get you. This sprint race yesterday was way much more interesting than any dull FP3 this season.

oh yes like last year's pathetic safety car that should have been a VSC or double yellows, but Masi wanted to bunch em up
