Basically Grosjean automatically reacted to what was going on in front of him. Unfortunately Kvyat was there.

There’s going to be investigations into it.

How on earth did that rail cut the car in half, that's the big question here. This shouldn't happen, right?

Steve Matchett reckons the rotational energy just pulled it apart when it lodged in the barrier. I wonder what the data will show.

I can’t be the only one that gets pre-1994 vibes when I hear everyone say F1 is so safe and that this would have been fatal xx years ago.

We’ve seen some big ones before imola 1994 and they said the exact same......

It must have cut inside the chassis somewhere

I have a feeling the Armco broke and that is what cut the car in half

It's lucky this happened on the first lap and not in lap 2 in the middle of circuit. The medical car would have taken longer to reach the spot.

So lucky Romain wasn't knocked out in the impact, because I don't know how anyone would have got close enough to help him out.

I would not blame him if he quits on the spot. I wouldn’t blame anyone if we don’t see all remaining 19 restart today

Give those medical car people the Bahrani version of the George cross for bravery

And the George cross too

Ha sat in that car a good while. He must have seen just fire trying to unbelt after stopping in no time from that speed.

Crazy crazy stuff. Glad that he is OK.....but self inflicted wound by "nut case" Grosjean. It is no fucking surprise to me that one of these kinds of accidents was caused by one of those Hass drivers. They have been a danger to the rest of the grid for a long long time frankly.

That onboard from Gasly proved it. He just cut straight across on him with no awareness at all. Shocking accident, but totally his own doing.
