Find a young South American not contracted to another team and there's your replacement.

Well, I've read a lot on Twitter (the paragon of reliable sources) and a certain Felipe Nasr has apparently turned down McLaren's young driver system and is close to joining Ferrari's...

Noooooooo! We must have Massa and Nasr in F1 together. Its just too much fun for commentators, even if just for one race.

Yes, but Alonso has been ragging the shit out of the F10 & F150 for the last two years and rarely made a mistake (did he even make one error last year?)

Was it last year he crashed at Monaco and missed quali or the year before? Think it was Korea where he almost hit the wall and had to back off, but he has been a very clean driver throughout his career

The year before, he stuffed it into the wall in FP3.

I don't think the Hungary '09 accident is Massa's problem, He was afterall closer to Alonso's pace through much of 2010. Massa's pace never started to drop off untill after he was told Fernando was faster than him at Hockenheim in 2010.

I think Massa's problems started at Hockenheim, That hurt Felipe's confidence & at the same time made it crystal clear that Ferrari is Alonso's team now. The car is designed around Alonso, It's built around his driving style & setup preferences which may not suit Massa.

The other problem I think is that Alonso is making the Ferrari look a lot better than it really is, He's doing what all the very best drivers do & outdriving a crap car & this is perhaps making Massa look worse than he actually is.

I still think Massa is as good as he was before his accident, I just think he needs to go to a team where he's not the clear #2 where he can rebuild his confidence a bit.

The problem at this point is that if they do want to drop Massa before the end of this season they have to do it sooner & not later, If they leave it too late then whoever they put in will no doubt struggle. We've seen recently that with no testing coming in Mid-season as a rookie may not allow you to make the best impression (Grosjean in 2009) & that also as someone with experience moving from one team to another may also see you struggle (Fisichella in 2009).

There's also the question of who do you put in the car?
With the team built around Alonso do you put in someone you know will simply be the solid #2 or do you put someone in who could really push Alonso & have the 2 drivers given equal status within the team?

For us fans the answer is simple, We want the best driver & equal status between them in the team. However is that what Ferrari & especially Alonso wants?

Perez will join Ferrari and Nasr to Sauber

So they can replace one driver who people say hasn't been the same since his huge accident with another driver who, if he ever dares underperform, people could say he hasn't been the same since his huge accident?

Or they could replace him with one that rhymes with his name.
(might save on some paint keeping the same first name too, tbh :p )

Perez has had plenty of races since Monaco and hasn't shown any issues.

The car is rubbish this year regardless of the driver, I'm more interested to hear what Ferrari are going to do about their design team.

I wonder if we would notice it when they secretly swap Kartikeyan and Massa.

HRT would like to end up within the 107% so why on earth would they put Massa in their car??
