Don't know what the story is with this non-accident, with a non-injured driver who spends 2 days in hospital. former_f1doc · 10m 10 minutes ago No doubt there is more to this story than meets the eye. Only thing made clear by McLaren comms is that they are at best . . . disingenuous. former_f1doc · 10m 10 minutes ago By definition a successful sedation yesterday would require absolutely no recovery per se today. former_f1doc · 8m 8 minutes ago A story, which was so banal to not be worth mentioning (driver hits wall, driver concussed, driver hosp'd), gets curiouser and curiouser. former_f1doc · 9m 9 minutes ago Can’t speculate, but not a scintilla of doubt that at best we’ve been given the tiniest sliver of truth; at worst treated like we were fools |

Can anyone recall an occasion where someone was concussed (and only concussed) and spent 3 days in hospital for it? Has he been moved out of intensive care yet? |

Perhaps the doctors have discovered something else when he was in hospital that had nothing to do with this crash, and therefore has to stay a bit longer. but still, I find it very strange that a driver stays in hospital now for 3 days after a gently kiss with the barrier. |

Maybe he's just being taken care of by a very hot nurse and is now faking things to stay there to hit on her |

That's the most logical thing I can think of. They have picked up a pre existing or unnoticed condition (he did hurt his back last year didn't he?) and have kept him in for that. |

Now that's a stretch. An F1 driver, who has to be at his peak of fitness and gets constantly examined, his blood values examined, etc... I'm pretty sure that - whatever the real reason may be that he is being held at the hospital for three or four days now, has to be linked with the accident. Even if it's just a more severe case of a concussion. But still, I'm convinced that we aren't told the truth, or the full extent of what exactly happened. |

Or it's just as simple as the medical profession wanting to be thorough, they usually are nowdays. A few months ago I got a bang on the head, spent some time unconcious and when i came too I was confused as hell, knew my name but that was about it, the paramedics that treated me wanted me to goto hospital for a CT scan and observation, they said it would be at least a 2-3 days stay, more if anything was found, I declined, but they were very insistent and got both me and my wife to sign waivers before they'd leave, all this stemmed from me tripping over the hover, which to be frank, is nothing compared to what happened to Fred. |

Whatever the case is, it's just another case of how uncommunicative F1 is towards their fans and sponsors. |

Fans just want the truth. It's also okay to say "he is being examined" without disclosing any medical information or to say "we don't know yet", but blatant bullshit lies like Boullier's "it was a normal testing accident", "everything you can read everywhere else is totally false" and "Alonso is fine, he never was unconscious" ridicule the fans. |

I read it the same as ellis. The fans are not the victims here. The situation is entirely McLaren's doing and managing. Because McLaren are not coming forward with more information it does not automatically mean it is indicative of how F1 is treating it's fans. |

No, we have no right at all to know his medical condition but fans are genuinely concerned about his well being. The official story doesn't seem to agree with whats going on. Even experts as Hartstein place questions over the situation. I think in most cases people want to know because they're worried there might be something seriously wrong with Alonso and fearing it could be career ending. And with McLaren being all Mohammed Saïd al-Sahaf about it causes people to post online with those comments. |

According to a recent Manor F1 Facebook post, they are gearing up for Melbourne and Will Stevens has been confirmed as their first driver. Edit - it's on autosport.com now also http://m.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/117815 |

Hmm hope there's not some undiagnosed medical issue with Alonso which caused him to pass out briefly. McLaren dispute that though. But I remember Richard Burns passing out in his Porsche on the motorway, that was the start of his tumour diagnosis. Am hoping there's really nothing wrong, of course. We'll find out in time, I guess. |

McLaren isn't obliged to come up with all the details but as a consequence they shouldn't complain about the media for guessing. |
