I don't like the black engine cover, it doesn't fit with the rest of the livery imo.

Have to say, the W05 looks surprisingly sexy in this studio shot. Might just be my favorite looking car of 2014 thus far.

yeah, have to agree - merc best looking so far when considering design + livery. not a big fan of the "gentleman sausage" designs

I think it is very respectful of Mercedes to mourn the loss of Blackberry.

Hopefully McLaren have triple checked that the suspension has been mounted the correct way up for their impressive form so far ...

With the exception of Force India and Caterham, I can say I'm already used to the new cars. It took three days of Jerez tests to get used to the new cars visually....the sound is ok too, like I said before.

All I want to see is these cars hitting Melbourne's surface and then we can have some rock'n'roll babe....If depended on me, F1 could start this weekend :p I wanna see some action, I'm done with this monotony.

He didnt have a car that worked at the silverstone YDT. Still topped the timesheets.

Actually I think so far kevin has topped every f1 test session he's been involved in.

I'd take it from all of this that McLaren have one of, if not the best car. Other teams wanting to copy/ban their innovations suggests they're onto something. Has echoes of the double-decker diffuser debates (try saying that one with sleep deprivation)

Given how tight the regulations becomes year after year, this will give a very substantial advantage to Mclaren, at least untill everybody introduces it's own version, which will take quite some races as there are several other implications when modifying a suspension.

Button is a very good bet right now, imo.

And to all those bitching about the engine sounds, they aren't even running to full capabilities yet. I would put my life on it that most cars haven't even ran their richest fuel maps.

According to Gary Anderson, Ferrari and Mercedes are running only up untill 13k RPM in Jerez and only in Bahrain they expect to use the max allowed 15k

I think there is no need to highlight the part which is quite awesome.

In that case I hope Renault are doing the same...

Anyway, just put €10 on McLaren winning the championship. I know, it's early to make predictions, but that's why it's called gambling.

you'd be right in the sense that Button and his team then took full advantage of the rule change for 09.
could happen again in the capable hands of Button.

Button has a track record with adapting to rule changes, so it's a big possibility. But Lotus could pull a rabbit out of the hat, Red Bull might get their shit sorted, Ferrari could be sandbagging. I just want to scare Shaddix :p

I remember one pre-season when Sauber were insanely fast. They topped about 3-4 days of 12. They never even ended up getting a podium that year.

Scare me all you want, the €10 is just part of a bonus I got from Unibet that I can't cash untill I have won enough :p

I've seen a few journos commenting that McLaren and Mercedes seem to have an *early* advantage, but also that the Williams seems to be a very tidy car. Button can be very handy when he's happy with the car, and he hasn't complained yet.

Still, I wouldn't be surprised if Lotus manage to turn up with a car that blitzes everyone on the single lap that it can complete..

Yes, Lotus will have a good car, but they have a Renault in it, which seems to be a problem.

If Lotus have the same trouble with the power supply in Bahrain like the others have now at Jerez, they are in big trouble.

Bit more on the Bouiller move to Mclaren that I've not seen mentioned in this thread, the Bahranis were behind the move and Bouiller is only taking on day to day running and pitwall leadership of the team, not the overall development of the team, suggested Brawn might take that role.

We've finished testing for the day. All focus now shifts to Bahrain. Full update to come shortly.

Seems accurate, for now at least. This will definitely put them under pressure, as it's not even as though they can start the season with last year's car, á la McLaren in 2003.
