Too many low numbers for my taste but I'm now extremely excited for the start of the new season. I see it as a fresh start.

As an aside, I saw the latest issue of Motorsport magazine today and there's a feature on the top 20 drivers who have driven for Ferrari. Gilles Villeneuve is number 1. I love Gilles but can't help thinking it's Nigel Roebuck's bias. A driver like Alonso was well down the list for example.

Maybe it was Jonny, but I wouldn't put Alonso anywhere near the top 10 of that list. I'm thinking the likes of GV, Mansell, Prost, Lauda, Alesi, Schumacher, Irvine and Barrichello (just for starts) should all be ahead of Alonso.

Autosport listed the drivers per their race number (not by constructors finishing position)

Code:
2014 F1 entry list so far in numerical order:

#   Driver             Team/Car
1   Sebastian Vettel   Red Bull-Renault
3   Daniel Ricciardo   Red Bull-Renault
6   Nico Rosberg       Mercedes
7   Kimi Raikkonen     Ferrari
8   Romain Grosjean    Lotus-Renault
11  Sergio Perez       Force India-Mercedes
13  Pastor Maldonado   Lotus-Renault
14  Fernando Alonso    Ferrari
17  Jules Bianchi      Marussia-Ferrari
19  Felipe Massa       Williams-Mercedes
20  Kevin Magnussen    McLaren-Mercedes
21  Esteban Gutierrez  Sauber-Ferrari
22  Jenson Button      McLaren-Mercedes
25  Jean-Eric Vergne   Toro Rosso-Renault
26  Daniil Kvyat       Toro Rosso-Renault
27  Nico Hulkenberg    Force India-Mercedes
44  Lewis Hamilton     Mercedes
77  Valtteri Bottas    Williams-Mercedes
99  Adrian Sutil       Sauber-Ferrari

And sorry, but this needs to be mentioned...

Why would they? He's achieved far more with the team than all of those drivers other than Lauda and Schumacher - 11 race wins and 2 runners-up spots in the championship while he's been there. Even if you allow one or two in for iconic status, he should at least be top 5 or 6

Having a list of top Ferrari drivers and Schumacher not being number one is absurd but that's Motor Sport magazine for you

Achievement is one thing (of which I very much agree), but he's also caused many issues along the way and his perceived value has greatly diminished as a result of his behaviour. And that's not even getting to twice grasping defeat from the jaws of title victory.

But that's just my opinion James. I haven't read the article (I would like to) and I know some won't share my view.

If he keeps winning the world title, yes.

If not, he switches to V.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Massive admirer of Villeneuve but I can't really put him at #1 in a list of all-time Ferrari drivers - the most iconic perhaps. Schumacher at the very least needs to go ahead. Prost was a great driver but achieved much more outside Ferrari, the same with Mansell. Lauda and Ascari have to be considered. Wouldn't put Irvine or Boobens ahead of Gilles though - nor Alonso.

Thanks for the most complete list I've seen so far.

And for Sutil...well...ummm...that was...ummm...an...unexpected...reference?

No no.

Red as in Red Bull
V = 5
Red V = Red 5
Red 5 = Mansell's famous number
