Now just tell me, my little knowledge in aero tells me that downforce is more or less proportional to the length of the wing (tip effect aside).
Why didn't they make it wider, but thinner? Couldn't they get the same result?

Pink stripes are gay btw. Of all the colors on earth...

The concept F1Racing magazine also showed that the rear and front wings would be much wider than our current ones. That Williams looks like a proper noob

I really thought it was a Photoshop when I first saw it, mainly because they had squeezed the sponsors onto it.

i will scan a special CAD screen from red bulls 2009 car.. then you will understand

rear wing will be smaller then 2008

front wing will be much lower & wider then 2008

in 2009 the driver also can adjust the front wing from the cockpit..

2 times each 6 degress per lap to take more downforce to overtake...

Just a quick question - which would you prefer looks-wise - a slightly narrower rear wing or the double mini-wings proposed 3 years ago?

I would have liked to see the CDW (or whatever it was called anyways) wing in action :)

Edit: CDG off course.

+1, the CDG wing looked awesome and so different to what we see today.

Well from what I could remember the teams' research proved it wouldn't work and then came up with their own suggestion, which is probably the one that's gone through with the narrower rear wing - I remember Symonds saying something like "it's quite different but it's the sort of change you'd forget about after about a while"

Tbh I just think it was just nonsense the FIA put out to bait the teams into acting

purple works for mine. Also, McLaren have introduced substantially bigger sidepod shields at this test, much longer and squarer like that of the Ferrari's, and i believe they are running their cockpit winglets assymetrical with the longer one on the right side of the car. Picture of sidepod shield is up at itv/f1.com
