This will be fun. Teams will go ballistic.

they want the money from the race fee

if the event is cancelled entirely due to force majeure (which this clearly is), they won't get the race fee

so that clause that points that the race promoters cancel the race, the money is still with F1 is still on?

they could make another race in Japan to fill the gap, at Fuji (if it rains there of course)

Loving the look of that. Nice to see a lot of the run offs are still gravel (so far...).

You can still ask Hockenheim to fill the gap. Should also be entertaining weather wise. or if weather seems too funny you could ask... a traditional and now safer than in the past European race track that has experience hosting the first European race of the season. Possibly south of the alps, where the weather should be great that time of the year.

No, we are NOT going back to Valencia!

Latest update here, also gives a bit better view of what's going on. They need to hurry a bit now as the first event is already planned for the 27th of this month.

The article reads like it's a Liberty decision, especially with the attempt to reschedule the race.

It'll be official when the FIA WMSC issues a statement, which will happen.

Interesting that the promoter is carrying the can.

They waited for the promoter to request a cancellation. That might mean the race fee might still have to be paid.
