quote this guy sums it up perfectly..
ΓΌ
No doubt, Mercedes are playing the fake underdog role for a long time already to try and keep people interested in the sport.. In reality there hasn't been any real competition in F1 since 2014.. The hybrid 1.6 V6 engine change has turned out the be the worst decision ever made in the sport's history, never has a team been able to dominate for so long and it will go on to at least until 2021.

Good for Lewis Hamilton though as he will probably be able to at least match the 7 WDC by Schumacher

F1 races are so great that the thread can't even reach 10 pages.
I remember the good old times when every GP thread was around 80-100 pages.

Just nobody cares about F1, now.

We did have more members back then, but we also had members commentating every little detail that happened, just to be the first to comment about it. Two pages of posts because a guy made a pit stop, maybe that was also not what we needed.

I remember "Kimi pits"

That's what I mean :"Good old times!" :D

It's not just us. So few people are interested now that Liberty are having to make up their own social media activity.

Again.

Best F1 race ever?!

OK, maybe it was first for Paul where he got paid for watching/tweeting about it. Or he's the one who writes Hamilton's podium speeches.

Best race, best fans, best car, best tires, best track, best champagne, best competition, best weather, best tarmac run off areas...

It's ok guys because Ferrari are sandbagging

Sandbagging this year so they can surprise Mercedes in 2020. Good thinking

Playing the long game, smart.

Sandbagging will end when they fire Vettel and hire a proper driver to fill that seat

C'mon guys, it's obvious that Ferrari are sandbagging so much because Liberty saw their speed in testing and knew this would be 2002/2004 all over again, so they're asking them to run their engines in safety (or occasionally unreliable) mode to give Mercedes a chance to build up some points, then they can stage their epic comback from Silverstone onward

OR they've sacrificed this year and next to get a head start on the 2021 regulations that only they know... :whistling:

This post is the best thing about this weekend

O/T but my favourite conspiracy theory is the "Paul McCartney died in a car crash in the early days of the Beatles and they got a lookalike in to replace him, someone who just happened to look identical to him and be as good a musician as he was"
(Also they went to all those lengths to make that happen but still couldn't help hinting about it with hidden lyrics and album covers where his shoes are off to simulate a corpse and whatever else :P )

I'm interested to see how Leclerc will handle this. On Saturday he was kicking himself for making mistakes on Q3. On Sunday Ferrari screw him massively, but I don't think he can be as harsh with the team as harsh as he is with himself.

"Paul is dead" is good, but it's no "Katy Perry is JonBenet Ramsey"

Thought I clicked the wrong thread for a moment there

The statistic that no team has gone 1-2 for the 3 first races since Williams in 1992 is baffling.

It just didn't feel like such a domination this year. It felt like Ferrari were kinda (or should've been) there, yet the result sheets is just a massive "fuck you" to everyone by Mercedes.
And I'm not even mad. They deserve every single point, both drivers and the team were flawless in execution, driving, strategy, reliability... everything. I want a close championship, but Ferrari does not deserve to be close at the moment.

Kudos to Max BTW. He damn well preyed on the Ferraris, making them doubt, single-handedly forcing them to panic into sacrifying one of their cars - and closely grabbing both of them. I hate to love the kid but he's got his art together, just give him an engine already please.

That's something that kept me thinking. Was Max's lurking enough to cause a brain fade in Ferrari? Even double-stacking Leclerc in pits would be a better idea than what they executed.

On the other hand, the strategy was useful in the sense it put Leclerc in a position to disrupt Bottas later on the race.

But in the end, it was a similar strategy to the ones that left every Kimi fan pissed last year. Which makes me believe perhaps it was not a brain fade, but a deliberate act.

Was that poor strategy a way to reinforce a hierarchy (given Ferrari already gave 3 team orders this year, all for Vettel)? Do Ferrari value more the hierarchy than a P4 and some extra points in the championship?
