I thought they got rid of that rule because it took too long?

I like the rule. Much better for us. A lap or two more is worth it to me for the potential of the front runners battling in the restart lap.

Yes... I know. Some people think SC is manufacturing excitement. But considering we have a Safety Car I'd rather it be this way than 1st, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 2nd, 23rd, 3rd, 24th, 5th.

I take it nobody remembers why they got rid of that rule in the first place?

First SC next year, this forum will be filled with people complaining about the length of the SC session.

Well it's either take longer with the SC or have errant lapped cars get in the way, I'll take longer SC periods.

Great rule. 2,3 laps more of Sc,ok,but then we will have direct action, and not 5 cars between 1st and 2nd.

can't the lapped cars on the straight just go to the left, and let all the unlapped cars behind them let through? Or that all the lapped cars have to pass in the pitlane just before the last SC lap, so that they are all out of the way when the restart is given?

Why does it take the FIA so long to do the wave around?

It takes Nascar 1 lap from wave around to green, if you don't drive round quick enough to catch the queue up, tough.

there needs to be a shortcut on the tracks (what the new tracks already have) to let the lapped cars pass.

Doesn't Bernie already want them to aid in overtaking?

They can't drive quick enough due to the delta times. That's a large part of the reason why 'traditional' safety car periods (for accidents or debris) now take longer, because they have to wait until everyone is in the queue.

They should just have slower Safety Car laps, that'd help. Also, surely the delta times should only come into account in the incident zone. Say there's a crash on Lap 20 at Spa at Les Combes, then you'd be okay to continue at racing speeds elsewhere on the track.

My personal view is that they have to cut out the ridiculous SC laps in bad weather when they run 6 or 7 laps before throwing the red flag, followed by another 5 or 6 laps after the restart. There's no need for it.

No more epic race delays :(

When they do the wave around they could turn off the delta times - by that stage whatever caused the SC should be cleared.

Sauber has left FOTA and STR didn't send a representative to the meeting today.

• Drivers may no longer move back onto the racing line having moved off it to defend a position.

This will surely cause for some trouble next year.

Why does it matter if the lapped cars catch back up or not? They're already gaining an advantage by getting back ahead of the leaders. Just let them past and go green the next lap, regardless of whether they've caught up or not.

Why not a drive through the pits to put them at the end of line? Simpler and faster, and you don't give them an advantage by giving a lap back. They are a lap down for a good reason.

To me it seems F1 also makes things too complicated.

Apparently Tommi Pärmäkoski - one of the guys closest to Vettel in F1 (his personal trainer) - is leaving the sport to become an ice hockey coach
