I'm just mad they're having to postpone the battlebots filming because they can't access the battlebox because of the preperations for the race

(The great irony is they moved to Vegas because they were sick of their original filming location being made frustrating by......the Long Beach Indycar race  )

I once had a thread on here or old TBK about Robot Wars/Battlebots so I wonder how many people here are left that knows what the hell I'm talking about :p

Sunset is at 4:30pm and the race starts at 10:00pm :8: :8:
Did anyone actually look at this data before setting the race start time. It should have started at 4:00pm.

Currently it looks like it will be +12°C around midnight. So not too exceptional conditions. What is unexpected is considerable risk of rain during the event. Nevada is the last place you would imagine wet tyres being required. :tumble:

Some rain on friday, that's the least of concerns.

I will be on holiday in Cape Verde during this race so I'll miss all the farcical crap :(

Wouldn't suit Europeans which seems to be the main driving factor in why the race is starting so late

It was only 10ºC for the Eifel GP in 2020, so I don't think the low temps will be too much of a problem, unless the track lacks grip like Istanbul did that year.

Well, the pavement is 100% fresh, so that can't be a good thing.

Qualy starts at midnight local time, which is even more mindblowing.

Is a very smooth surface and no fast corners, it's not the same thing.

GM will build an engine for the new regulations, but only if Andretti are allowed in.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Watch Andretti getting rejected and the other teams then complain they can’t break into the USA.

Raises hand, but then one of my friends was on the original Robot Wars (back when they used 27Mhz radios with 4 foot long antennas), so everytin3 we hear Robot Wars our ears prick up lol.

I'm thinking they allow Andretti provided that HAAS is banned from F1, so they can keep their 20-car status quo (and to annoy us who wants 26 cars).
:p

I bet Domenicali opens his messages each morning and thinks "let's see what the fans want and give them exact the opposite. My job is the best in the world and haven't done nothing to earn it"

If you thought you had seen mental gymnastics before in denying Andretti a place on the grid, watch Domenicali and the teams bend over backwards and still be able to pleasure themselves.

Teams already trying to poach GM from Andretti. Thinking they can reject him but keep GM. I'm fairly sure that GM will back out if they reject Andretti.

If they do let both in I think a few teams will really be left behind since almost everyone is a works team by then.

In engine's we then would have
- Ferrari (works team: Ferrari)
- Mercedes (Works team: Mercedes)
- RedBull/Ford (Works team: Red Bull)
- Renault (Works team: Alpine)
- Honda (Works team: Aston Martin)
- Audi (Works team: Sauber/Audi)
- GM (Works team: Andretti)

Only Williams, Haas, Alpha Tauri and McLaren wont have a works deal. And that will make things harder for them I fear.

As Renault/Alpine and McLaren have shown, being a works team is no guarantee of success. Lately it's not even a guarantee that you'll be the fastest team running your engine.
