I think Kubica & Lotus have burnt their bridges. Wouldn't be surprised to see Kubica's comeback with Ferrari in 2013.

I agree. Last rumours saying that Lotus won't let him test if he doesn't sign contract for 2013 mean that we won't see him in their car anymore. Kubica won't replace Kimi and Lotus still need paydriver as their second choice.

No comments from Eric Bouiller on the LRGP statement, just Lopez. Talks of management reshuffle. I may well be putting 2 + 2 to make 5, but..

Well he's become a joke anyway. The constant drive shuffling was never going to produce anything but medicore results.

I wonder when Genii Capital will run out of resources, or get caught in something fishy. I still remember Gerard Lopez and Eric Lux driving around in the Belgian GT championship with a Mosler from their 'Gravity Racing' team, those guys have always given me a bad feeling.

Marca & Gazzetto dello Sport, yeah :p
If Vettel wasn't German Bild would've jumped on that as well.

Yeah, especially with Lotus funding so many other racing exploits

Kimi will struggle to get up to speed after a long time out, get pwned by his team mate, leave at/before the end of the season, and the fanboys will cry.

Calling it. :p

6 World Champions on the grid, that's actually pretty damn awesome.

Got there in the end, then.

Hopefully he is bringing some money so that Lotus get to try out Grosjean or something.

Kimi is only 32 where Michael is like 10 years older... Michaels in his 40s hes not as good as he used to be by human nature his body isn't the same as he was in his prime like high 20s early 30s, where Kimi is now. I bet Kimi has lost nothing and jumps in the car and kills Petrov within 5 laps.

1/4 of the grid has a title 8) When was the last time we could say that?

I think we should firstly celebrate the fact that Kimi is actually coming back.

However, 2012 will be a building year for Lotus. They've lost a few crucial engineers and staff members. The car was a shambles as the season wore on and the politics inside the team were becoming a joke, particularly with the Kubica situation.

They can rebuild simply. The FFE did not work and they know that. They went radical, it won them podiums but then it hindered development. Kimi gives damn good feedback, even though he appears monosyllabic in the media. Judging by Petrov's worsening form in 2011, you have to question how vital he is to the team. Does money outweigh talent, and to what extent. Grosjean is more talented than Petrov, but the management have to decide what to do.

First and foremost, they need stability and a good atmosphere. They need to end the Kubica saga because its blighted their 2011 season - and no doubt it was a crippling impact on the team's situation - and either decide to dump him (which would probably be more logical) or to help him 100%. Stop this idiotic Morelli-Bouiller situation too.

There's no reason why Renault can't produce a car like the R30 and with a fired up Kimi take podiums, and maybe that lucrative win. But with RBR into their 4th straight season of the same line up, and McLaren, Ferrari & Mercedes into their 3rd, it will be tough. Doubly so considering that there is a massive gap between the top 3 and Mercedes, and then a further gap to Renault. I want to see this partnership succeed, no doubt about it, but it will be tough.

Regarding Kimi: He never had the pandring Michael had, such as everything build around him - especially the Bridgestone tyres. He's 10 years younger, doesn't have a serious neck injury (which was a lot more serious and harmful to Schumacher than many thought) and he has been actively racing in his 'sabbatical' I guess we can call it. It will take time to get used to Pirelli tyres and heavy fuel loads, but I'm sure Kimi will be back as great as ever.

ESPNF1: Europe 'finished' for F1 - Ecclestone

Quote:
Bernie Ecclestone believes that there will only be five races held in Europe in the near future, saying that it is "finished" as a Formula One hub. Formula One has traditionally been based in Europe, with all of the team headquarters found within Britain, Italy, Switzerland and Spain. There were nine races in Europe this season, and the number will shrink to eight next year when the Turkish Grand Prix disappears from the calendar. Ecclestone, however, still feels that number is too high and expects more to fall by the wayside in the not-too-distant future. "I think in the next few years, Europe will be left with only five races," Ecclestone is quoted by Marca. "I think Europe is finished. It will be a good place for tourism but little else. Europe is a thing of the past." When asked if Europe was the spiritual home of Formula One, Ecclestone responded: "It used to be." Ecclestone was clear where he was hoping to expand to in the future too, with the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi already planned for 2014. "Russia for sure, we have a contract there ... Maybe South Africa, Mexico."

- GB, Germany, Italy, Monaco will stay; France/Belgium rotation likely. Spain, Valencia will go when Alonso goes. So he's probably right.

Bernie's going to be in for a shock when certain countries stop throwing money at him.
