In lets-take-it-out-of-Bahar news, car sales across the UK were up in October 2011 compared to October 2010.

Land Rover up 63%, Maserati 33%, Mercedes 19%, Lotus 93%.

Wait, that last figure was down 93%. They sold 61 cars in October 2010. They sold 4 cars in October 2011.

Good going, huh.

Williams' shareholder Toto Wolff confirmed they're talking to Kimi. Other candidates are Sutil & Bianchi. Bottas an outsider, likely for FPs in 2012.

D'ambrosio did quite good this season. Pure on his results and driving he doesn't deserve a boot next season.

But pure on his results and driving he doesn't deserve a seat next season either, compared to the 30 other candidates (with arguably more cash in hand) who are equally as good and waiting to get in that seat, sadly...

Considering he is Belgian I really want him to stay in, but I'm 90% sure he won't.

That's the sad thing about pay drivers. They are expected to perform on their first season with a car most likely to be shit, and if they don't, there will be another driver with more backing waiting to take their spot.

Young drivers they just can't make it know without backing from a constructor or a manufacturer, or with a huge sponsor.

D'Ambrosio was sometimes better and sometimes worse than his experienced team-mate. Considering that is his only realistic benchmark, he didn't do bad. What could he possibly have done to prove he is a good driver? Even if he was a second a lap faster, he still wouldn't reach the Lotuses. The car is shit, no Schumacher or Alonso or Raikkonen would have come close to points in that car. Same can be said about the poor drivers who have to race a HRT.

Being a pay driver if you don't perform in your first season than you're out really. D'Ambrosio had a decent season but unfortunately i don't think hes done enough to keep it. Coming in like he did and how previous pay drivers have you've got to be fast straight away and be a standout.

Yep, if he had finished and qualified every single race ahead of Glock, then I'm pretty sure he would stay, but that didn't happen...
Apparently the team "really really likes him" and he's "great in development work", but I don't know how much blatant PR-talk is involved in those statements.

You can't win anything in the Virgin, and I doubt it will be better next season.

Meh, Ferrari has a bad season and Luca threatens to quit. Figures.

Reminds me of what Bernie said in May:
Quote:
"Oh yes, we all know Montezemolo's emotional side. But how often has Ferrari actually gone?"

Ferrari, complaining about too much Aero over pure horsepower?

What is this 1965?

When he said third cars I thought he meant a return to the "if there's something wrong with your primary car, you can use the spare car though, sorry Eddie, only really Micheal gets a third car, you're stuck with what you've got" rules.

Still don't really know if he wants the ability to run three cars himself or a customer to buy one off him and run it themselves though....

BTW did anyone watch that Ferrari day, it was live all over Motors TV apparently...

Luca-to-English translation: 'Red Bull has the best aerodynamicist in living history, and he won't ever work for us, and it's NOT FAIR!'

He does have a point about testing, although any increase in testing has to be matched by a rule which severely restricts active drivers in the number of extra days they do.

And the ever-present quit threat. Still waiting for the day that Bernie calls his bluff. Let him go and ruin another international single-seater series.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I quite miss in-season testing. I mean, in a sport as expensive as F1, what's to stop them from hosting a test on the Monday after a race at 6 or 7 rounds a year? Let the fans in at a cheaper price, allow them around the paddock etc.

And the 3 cars would only be viable in 2004 for example, when there was the real possibility of just 7 teams for 2005. However, with 12 teams the idea of a 3rd car is redundant. Unless it's the T-Car.

Anyway, in 'I want these becase they're a gimmick' news, Pirelli wristbands!
