Virgin Racing making an announcement regarding a driver this morning, expecting to be an extension for either Glock or d'Ambrosio rather than a replacement.

Sauber in financial trouble?

Hmmm, did I hear incorrectly yesterday him saying over team radio that Virgin is making his life miserable?

Only just seen this, but the Virgin livery looks much better on an old-style F1 car

Fab weekend. Dodgy weather... and its due to continue in Hungary. Believe it or not, low temps, wind and rain are forecast.

I don't trust weather reports anymore. Just see what happens at the moment.

I thought the weather reports were quite accurate. Didn't it rain overnight like predicted, it's just the showers during the race weren't heavy enough to make a difference.

Bruno Senna will drive on Friday in Hungary in Heidfeld's car. Guess Heidfeld's poor run of results recently has gotten Boullier shaken ;)

Renault are idiots. Nick's racing has been fine this year and he actually has two points more than Petrov to date. How does it help releiving him of more track time when their too-ing and fro-ing about exhausts and whatnot currently?

Sure Nick's qualifying is so-so but given how much more the race means than Qualifying this season surely they should take this into account? The Ferrari for example is average in qualifying but Alonso's last five races read 2-R-2-1-2. Alguersuari and Kobayashi have recently gone out 18th but have gone onto score points whenever they did so. Schumacher has gone out in Q2 umpteen times compared to Rosberg but his actual race pace [when not knocking off his front wing] has been strong than Nico's recently.

Putting Senna or Grosjean [as much as I want Romain back in F1] isn't going to see the car go any quicker, or the results suddenly come.

it's more a question of balancing performance and sponsorship incomes I think

I wholeheartedly agree. But I doubt that Renault can catch Mercedes for 4th, nor are they likely to be overhauled by Sauber. Therefore 5th is guaranteed for them, so putting Senna in for a few races and then perhaps Grosjean when GP2 is finished could give Renault valuable data as to the abilities of both drivers. Heidfeld hasn't developed the car to the extent that Renault hoped I think.

sad to say, but could also be to see who they should place in the car next year if Robert is found not fit to race.

Good point by Lee MacKenzie on Autosport about drivers being robots

Quote:
Team radio has become a direct line to the world and the FIA's Charlie Whiting. Drivers and engineers are a canny bunch and know that their thoughts can be heard by those in power and other teams. If they don't want things to be played on global television, the solution is simple: swear lots – it's a basic solution that has been adopted by several teams! In most instances, unless it's a panicked-sounding driver, then treat team radio as a party political broadcast.

Why not just bleep it out if thats the case?

Also

Quote:
Long-time Blick correspondent Roger Benoit revealed that he asked team principal Williams inside the Nurburgring’s Dorint hotel if the team will line up next year with Barrichello still alongside Pastor Maldonado.

"Not necessarily," Benoit quotes Williams as smiling.

The wheelchair-bound 69-year-old then suggested that it is not the well-backed Venezuelan rookie Maldonado whose seat is in doubt.

"Many people believed we only have him because of the money. But he (Maldonado) is also super-fast, straightforward and the team loves him."

"With a Renault engine, we can give him a better car in 2012,"

I've read elsewhere that Valterri Bottas is being linked with the other Williams seat for 2012
