I miss La Rascasse crashes.

Seriously, it's been 10 years nobody slammed the wall just in front of the resturant. It used to be a frigging car cemetary there in practice.

I love those Force India onboards. It's the only car where I have the sensation things are pushed just that harder.

No, even averaging 1m20 a lap they would do 1h45

The old entry to that corner was great. Why was it even changed? To aid the new pit lane or to make it an overtaking spot?

I 'hate' it when Hamilton complains of the car being all over the place, but the Mercedes being miles ahead anyway.

Interesting thermal cam on Ricciardo's car, you can see the high camber angle used on this track.

Ricciardo 0.5s ahead after popping the super softs. It may not be enough when The mercs do the same.

To make it an overtaking spot was the primary reason. I remember everyone was expecting the racing line to be much wider and open up some gap inside, but they were surprised that the optimal line is still inside all the way through.

Another reason may have been safety, as the old layout made the drivers briefly face a solid wall at about 180kph before braking (a bit like at La Piscine second chicane). This is stupid, because the whole track is like this anyway.

@Maclaren2008: no, you can see the pitlane side of the road is still the same 90deg turn. They rather enlarged the entry by gaining ground on the sea-side, as part of the awful, awful safety re-vamp of the track in 2003.

Traffic, and a (phantom?) yellow flag.

Ricciardo is up there with Mercedes. Vettel is probably on par with them but he got impeded on his last run.

Vergne continuing his 2014 Tour of Monaco's Runoff areas.

Interestingly most incident-free weekend so far since 2009(?). Looks like the cars aren't that difficult to handle after all.

If this practice is anything to go by, we'll have a 2-team battle for the lead, the two isolated Ferraris, then a huge pack of cars. Should be fun enough.

Is Button wearing a Dan Wheldon's helmet design?

miraculously, Maldonado hasn't crashed yet. Maybe he's saving for a big one in qlf :p

I think Mercedes hidden their pace a bit and will have some 0,7s over RB come Q3. Also interesting to see if Vettel really is up to Ricciardo's speed as seems to be the case.

Maybe the Mercedeses are gonna use the Softs on Q2 to start with it in the race as, due to their pace, I believe they can pass to Q3 with it

Gonna be probably the best quali for a while, someone could get in there and mix up the grid.

crashfest in practice + qualifying -> uneventful race
uneventful practice + qualifying -> crashfest in race

Or the most prevalent combination of all, uneventful practice + qualifying -> uneventful race -> watch Indy instead.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.
