For those who are not aware, the Indy 500 has been postponed and will hopefully start around 5 hours from now.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Still can't figure out how they allowed Sainz to re-take 3rd at the restart.

I wonder if they don't take the last sub-sector recorded when the incident happened, not when they pressed the button. So given the moment Perez hit the wall, either they reverted to the starting grid, or to somewhere before Casino, but no later than that so Sainz still had his 3rd position on track.

Same as Australia 2023 when Alonso got his 3rd back in Australia despite having been passed by the whole field before the Alpines even crashed

Leclerc is yet to win not starting on the front row

I found the race thrilling even though nobody would do mistakes or force passing. Once the Magnussen factor was off the race got smoother

Was there ever an official decision handed out on the Magnussen-Perez incident? Or was it waived off as a first lap racing incident?

Climbing over your own teammate at 50kph, taking yourself out of the race and nobody else: 5-place grid penalty

Not backing off a suicidal move, writing off 3 race cars including your teammate, damaging the barrier, endangering marshalls and the general public, done by a driver who's been a cockhead through the year: waved off

It's ok, F1 has their safety priority straight

Absolutely mindboggling. I get that Perez wasn't faultless but come on even Stevie Wonder surely saw Magnussen instigating an avoidable pileup. Well, at least the FIA are consistent at inconsistency.

To be fair to the FIA, what punishment can they give out that would get through to someone like Magnussen? Even if you banned him for a race or two, the fucking dipshit would be right back on it as soon as he gets back in the car.

So Alonso was lapped twice........in a healthy car. That is disastrous.

Just watched the overhead replay and Magnussen hit the wall around 20 meters before making contact with Perez. So I'm not sure what he's on about hitting the wall and Perez at the same time, as if he got sandwiched.

Wait, isn't everyone forced to make one tyre change at least? Or did the rule change and I'm not watching the same race as everyone else, because in my mind the 4 top guys were fucked vs Verstappen

Yes, they all made their one tyre change whilst the red flag was out.

HAHAHA OMFG :flag:

Guys I was living the time of my life here

This went instantly from an epic strategic stand-off, to the most boring blue-balls procession I've ever seen here. Bunch of wankers, you're at Monaco, knowing no pit stops will happen again, and can't be arsed to stick one the inside to get a podium or win it? Get the heck outta here, lol

Sometimes I think that if they banned pitstops altogether drivers would be forced to fight for positions on track, not being able to rely on strategy any longer.

But then I realize the scenario described above is what would happen in most races...

is something we discussed before that cars are allowed to work under red at Silverstone 2021, is such an advantage that they should sent back to the end, unless everybody does it, then is just a no contest

The race turned out to be a standard Monaco borefest, but before they drop Monaco, they should drop the "you can change tyres during red flag and it counts even if you didn´t do it in the race" rule.

Red flag should have parc ferme rules. You don´t touch the car bar cooling and tyre blankets. Change anything and you start from the pitlane

They definitely need to tweak the rules. I don't mind them being able to fix damage (without spare cars, it's the only way to get a car back into the race). The tyre rule needs to change. Not quite sure how, because you need to allow some drivers to change for safety reasons (Zhou went over all the debris from the accident). Maybe a tyre change puts you to the back of the grid. Or you can only change onto the same compound, and it has to be a used set.
