Post subject:  Historic & Vintage Racing - General Discussion

Since this thread was sitting, I figured I'd re-purpose it as the general discussion thread for vintage racing (outside of the Goodwood Revival). Major series & sanctioning bodies within historic & vintage circles include: FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship, SVRA, HSR, Historic Group C, Dunlop Historic Touring Car Cup, Historic Trans-Am & Historic Can-Am. Among the historic-appearing modern series include: Touring Car Masters, Australian Trans-Am, Southern Ground Pounders, GSPSS Steel Sportsman, LIVARS, NE Vintage Modiifeds.

Original intended use of thread / main post:
Spoiler:
A new series has been announced, called the Electric GT World Series. The series hopes to be the first zero-emissions GT championship and already has plans for their first season in 2017 with 7 races across Europe, Asia & the Americas using Tesla Model S P85+ cars. The series plans to allow more manufacturers in the future as well.

Tesla hasn't previously shown much if any interest in motorsport, are they going to be some kind of an official partner in this or are the series just buying 20 off the shelve Teslas and adding rollcages?

First post after this thread was repurposed, figured with so few posts & with the series having a separate thread that this was better than making another one.

There are several vintage series across North America for all various forms with most of them sticking to road circuits, however their is a few Touring Car Masters style classes on the local short track scene in various forms (i.e. Southern Ground Pounders, Steel Sportsman Series by Granite State Pro Stocks, LIVARS, NE Vintage Modifieds etc.) as well. Most of the vintage tours across the USA include SVRA, HSR, Classic Can-Am and Classic Trans-Am.

Sorry to be anal, but it's historic not vintage. Vintage refers to pre-war.

I've always have seen both used regardless of car type over here (even for first gen Miata's), will note that for the future though (was kinda confused on what should be named by which).

IMSA.tv will be streaming the annual Rolex Monterrey Motorsports Reunion this weekend at Laguna Seca. This year, IMSA is the marquee OEM - as the series celebrates it's 50th year of competition.

Over 100 cars that have raced in previous IMSA, American LeMans Series & Grand-Am events will be in attendance alongside pre-war racing vehicles, Formula 1 & IndyCar machinery from several eras, Can-Am cars, Trans-Am cars & NASCAR stock cars - along with much much more.
