Now that was dangerous, towing a conked out car onto the track with no SC out

Sebring hosts the 2021 season opener for Trans-Am this weekend, which also includes racing for SVRA and International GT. Both of the races will be streamed on the Trans-Am app (plus the Trans-Am social media platforms like last year I would assume).

24 cars are entered in the TA / XGT / SGT / GT race - among those being 13 TA cars. 30 cars are entered in the TA2 race.

Looks like the app is the only way to watch this weekend's racing. And probably the rest of the season

Oh, and it costs 10 Quid a weekend.

*sigh* when will low to mid tier series learn that they have a minority fanbase and milking the few that can afford that kind of money (on top of cable/Netflix/amazon/Disney and whatever other motorsport series are trying to rinse us behind a paywall) is a one way ticket to oblivion

I guess they're too lazy to have a free live stream on youtube and get it sponsored as well as promoting it so they can attract new fans, just gotta squeeze every dollar of whatever fans they have left.
Well, you're not NASCAR, so good luck with that.

Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

2 races it was...

This is the worst short-sighted money grab attempt since Goodwood Members Meeting 2019 (iirc).

I'd consider subscribing if they had a non-phone / internet browser option. restricting to just the app is so short sighted, not everyone has the top end Android or iOS bullshit

(I get the reasoning why they gotta put it behind a paywall, as the production end for streaming isn't cheap for the cameras / crew / internet costs (especially when most American tracks are in the middle of nowhere & either requires a satellite truck (what DIRTvision did) or a high end mobile signal), and then dealing with licensing from NASCAR and IndyCar for the Road America + Nashville weekends on-top of that (FOX/NBC automatically own the rights to the races, which is why some support races are never broadcast here in the States)

It is understandable but somehow they've managed this far. Now they're going to lose so much visibility and I don't see the where audience for this is. Especially with that price tag.

E.g. I can watch all kinds of low level stuff on Youtube when it is free, but I won't pay to watch mostly amateur/gentleman-level categories and historics because I just don't care enough who wins.

It seemed like TA was in a slight uptick in popularity. Now it might go right back into oblivion.

TA2 Muscle Cars (the OG series for Australia, as there is 2 series now featuring TA2 spec machinery) will be racing under the lights at Eastern Creek this weekend. Speedweek (SBS in Australia, MavTV in the States) will have tape delayed highlights of the event (no stream planned apparently).

Trans-Am was at the Charlotte ROVAL last weekend for the first Pro-Am Challenge race of the season. With the Pro-Am format, not all of the teams showed up so it was a shorter entry list like some of the West Coast races has been in past.

Next up is the full series at Road Atlanta

Free stream today at least for the SVRA supports, probably won't include the main Trans-Am races (?)
