HSV(was PWR at the time wasn't it)

HSV was formerly Kmart Racing (from 2001-2004), became HSV Dealer Team in 2005.

PWR is still PWR this year (running Andrew Thompson)

The races at Bahrain over the weekend were some of the best I've seen from the V8s in a long time. Lots of action and controversy. The new commentator (David Addison) was so much better than Matthew White. Does anyone know why White was replaced for this weekend? I didn't hear a reason through the broadcast but maybe I missed it.

From eNews tonight:

---------------------------------------------------
Alex Davison fills the final seat at SBR. Will have the IRWIN sponsorship and #26. Bright likely to switch to #4.

SBR 2009 line-up
#4 - Fujitsu - Jason Bright
#9 - SP Tools - Shane Van Gisbergen
#26 - IRWIN Tools - Alex Davison.

Interesting to have 2 similar companies sponsoring the main cars.
---------------------------------------------------
Glenfords will leave PCR at the end of the year. Wilson Security a favourite to take over major sponsorship.
---------------------------------------------------
Kelly Racing set to use Perkins Engineering chassis, with its own engines. Red Bull is unlikely to sponsor Rick's car, but Jack Daniels is likely to sponsor Todd's car.
---------------------------------------------------
As expected PWR Racing will cease racing at the end of the year. The licence has been sold, pending board approval, to Walkinshaw Racing likely to be used by Paul Dumbrell in 2009.
---------------------------------------------------
TKR driver for final rounds to be determined. Al Musalam in the running for Symmons Plains. Al Musalam damaged 2 gearboxes at Bahrain, and the team had to borrow a PMM sequential gearbox for the final race. The first time this year that TKR used a sequential gearbox.
---------------------------------------------------
Abu Dhabi is a favourite for a 2nd Middle-East round, with a round likely to be held a week before or after the Bahrain race.
---------------------------------------------------
Dick Johnson Racing and Perkins Engineering appear to be the remaining keys to 2009 V8SCS.
DJR: In James Courtney, Will Davison to HRT. Steve Johnson favourite to stay in 2nd seat.
Perkins: With Jack Daniels tipped to leave, there is a chance that Perkins could sell/lease one of his licences for next year. If Perkins enters a car likely to be for Jack.

I'm not surprised that IRWIN Tools moved with Bright to SBR. I had them as a possibility of sponsoring the 3rd SBR car on my little team chart that I've been compiling along with Citizen.

As for Al Musalam, him busting 2 gearboxes isn't surprising considering he hadn't driven a V8 Supercar with a H-pattern gearbox before last weekend.

His excuse would more likely be that he has never driven a dog box before. It's no excuse though, even Ryan Brown (our rookie at Bathurst) had never used a dog box and he didn't do any damage at all.

Perhaps changing with the left hand rather than the right, though a driver with skill would get used to that after at least 1 practice session.

eNews reckon:
#4 will be Bright with Fujitsu sponsor
#26 to be third SBR car with A Davison/IRWIN tools

Kelly Racing will use Perkins cars with their own engines, RB wil not sponsor Rick
and also FPR approached Rick/RB about running next year, but it won't happen.

Appears so, though what sponsorship is Rick bringing to the table is RB are out of the equation?

Jack Daniels provided decent sponsorship money to Perkins, so they could try seeing if they'd continue a 2 car sponsorship. If they are using chassis from Perkins Engineering, a 3 car team merging the two short-term could be an option.

Didn't Addison use to provide commentary for the Havoc video's back in the day? His voice sounded awfully firmilar when I heard him.

I reckon the Kelly brothers team should have 1 car sponsored by Red Bull and the other by Jagermeister. It would be a promotional phenomenon.

So, is Will Davison going to Skaife's old seat at HRT then? Presumably that's what Aaron Noonan was saying. Courtney's taking his seat at DJR?

Based on??

This is a guy who gave Jim Richards a big hurry up in the 2003 Carerra Cup, who then gave the Porsche Supercup regulars a fright at the Indy GP round in 2003, who then won a British F3 race in 2004.

In terms of V8s, all he's had is the inaugural PCR season in '06, and the second-string Britek car this year. Hardly a chance in top equipment so far.

They're hardly achievements, pace in Porsches translates to f-all in most other series. I mean, it took him 3 years to have any success in FFord. The race he won in British F3 was a total fluke, i mean his best other result was 9th, and he still finished not-far-from last in Championship class. He was only 6th best in Aus F3.

It doesn't matter what equipment he's in, he's done nothing in V8SC's. He's 24th in the standings this year for meanings sake.

He also did nothing for Team Australia in Champ Car in 2005. Will Power at least got results for that team in 2006 and 2007.

The only thing he did in Champ Cars was break the record for most red flags brought out by one driver :whistling:
