Practice 3 cancelled. 2 reasons given.

Race control radio and Speedcafe have said:

Quote:
A wet weather tyre supply issue has seen Thursday’s final V8 Supercars practice session cancelled at Mount Panorama.
It has emerged that two different batches of wet Dunlop tyres are present at the track this weekend, leading to concerns that some teams will gain an advantage.
Paddock speculation is suggesting that the newer of the two batches, designated by the letters PV, could prove up to four seconds per lap faster than the older tyres, marked ZD.

V8 Supercars have said on their website:

Quote:
All cars returned to pit lane before completing one full flying lap when the visibility issues became apparent.

DW will be going for a hot lap with Jason Bright sometime over the weekend.

Should make for some great TV.

hehe you would think Dunlop would be well aware of any performance variation between various batches of tyres. Tsk tsk.

To get myself into the Bathurst 1000 mood, I decided to watch a couple of the old races.

I'd never seen the 1981 coverage except for what is shown on Classic crashes DVD's, but it's funny to see Dick Johnson jumping up and screaming behind Ivan Stipard (sp?) when he declared the race was over.

At 32:05, Johnson is in the red helmet.

Didn't look to hard a hit, but apparently he hit the marshall's gate going into the cutting, so he may be out of qualifying.

That's John French jumping up & screaming in the background, not Johnson

As crashdave says, its Stibbard... he ran the race until Tony Cochrane came along and V8Supercars hijacked the 1000 for themselves....

Are you sure it's French? The helmet says Johnson.

Australian Muscle Car Magazine said it was French in an interview with him
