More coupes  and probably more coming in the future since afai understand it's "upgrade kit" to the old chassis.

You know, I've been watching Le Mans review dvd from 1980 to 1990 with all the closed sportscars of the C1 era. They look so much nicer then the open ones. Even my mom said the other day that the older cars looked nicer then modern day proto's. And she doesn't watch races at all :D

That MG is actually a very attractive car. More so than when it was a prototype.

I quite like that, actually. Always been a fan of the Lola's, but I really like that particular one, even compared to the Sebah and Charouz cars. Very nice!

Yeah the Lola Coupe is awesome, especially with this livery on it.

Pratt & Miller are going to build a Vette GT2 if the info I've read is correct

The car should make his debut halfway 2009 in ALMS, and the reason why they're investing in a GT2 is because the GT1 Corvettes have no competition in the American Le Mans Series

Rumour says Luc Alphand will take the 'Vette LMP1' project for his count, and Reiter Engineering is gonna make a Gallardo GT2 suiting to the 2010 GT2 regulations. But since they're allready allowed in 2009, we might see it more early

There's also another aspect to it... thanks to likely absence of AMR, they can take an easy win in Le Mans.

This piece of news seem to have same info:

Dirk Müller subs for Rob Bell at CR Scuderia at the FIA-GT round at Brno. Bell is driving at Silverstone for Virgo Motorsport at the LMS round. Müllers new teammate Kirkaldy is happy having him again in the car after his brilliant performance at the Spa 24h.

BMW tested the new M3 GTR at the Eurospeedway Lausitz. Jörg Müller shared the wheel with Augusto Farfus, there was no special test programme apart from putting milage on the car to find weak spots. It will debut at the 12h of Sebring entered by Rahal Letterman Racing, driver still unknown, the decision is in the hands of BMW North America

Sébastien Loeb took part in the FFSA-GT race at Albi last weekend in a 997 RSR. He finished 15th overall in heat 1.
SRT sacked Bruno Hernandez (why?) and Soheil Ayari (well, it's Ayari) and signed up Merafina and Soulet
Hernandez and Ayari signed up with LAA if my poor french is good enough.

JetAlliance released the reason for the DNS at Bucharest. A part of the suspension was cracked. It was discovered on one car after free practice and on the second car after qualifying.
Lichter-Hoyer - running a business airline - was concerned about the safety as it happened on both cars independantly
But the team is ready again for Brno.

Lou Gigliotti must be pissed now that Pratt & Miller is going to GT2 after he brings his Corvette operations from SPEED GT over to ALMS.

Already yesterday's news but since no source was yet linked other than Vertigo's Belgian link...

Corvette Racing confirms its plans for 2009

Corvette Racing Teleconference Transcript

Seem to be a bit mixed info about future GT classes... on the other hand talking about "global GT class" (could just refer to ACO or ALMS adapting only one class) but then Fehan is talking about GT2 car with GT1 upgrade kits.

To me it starts to feel like Ratel is stubborn about this "World GT Championship" idea (which is a nice idea though) and since smaller teams cannot afford intercontinental events he needs to have GT1 for that and GT2 for the "European Championship". What could be better than have all the major makes in one single class...

.

But also Jörg Müller has high hopes getting behind the wheel of the M3 GTR. I think it will be equal to Porsche/Penske with the Rahal/Letterman entry. BMW tech support and BMW works drivers, at least partly.

Farfus tested the car also, I think he will stay in WTCC but I think the 12H of Sebring might be possible.

ACO's press release from Silverstone:
PDF: http://www.lemans.org/24heuresdumans/re ... l09_gb.pdf

Diesel vs. petrol balance is obvious, some 2011 changes are welcome but quite radical too. And some changes are just outright lame, foremost yet again reducing noise levels.

I'm annoyed they've gone back on the idea of getting rid of open cockpit cars...now they'll be allowed to ugly-up the sportscar scene for a while longer :(

But I think that most manufactures will eventually develop cars with closed cockpits. They are aerodynamic much efficiently than closed prototypes.

But yeah I would rather see some new rules, so the cars would look more like the production cars, or as some artist impressions who have been wandering around the internet (the corvette made by ACO itself).

Good to see ACO/FIAGT will use the same GT regulations, even though I don't want Ratel to have too much influence on the future rules, because that would make the GT1 class so much difference than it is at the moment...
