Soooooo. What's likely to be better this season - World GT3 (the 1 is misplaced in the FIA's official documentation) and it's European sister series or Blancpain? I have a feeling one of the three may struggle for a decent sized and/or quality grid as the universal lack o' cash goes on.

Blancpain, from what I can gather. The longer races have more success with the local ''''amateur'''' who are also able to split funds between the 3 or 4 of them, adding to the fact that participating is cheaper than in the other anyway.

FIA GT1 and FIA GT3 will race at Slovakiaring in mid june 2012. I didn't find any confirmation for it yet, except the site of the track itself:

hopefully it's true, if so, I will be there 8)

Aaand it's confirmed  Slovakiaring added to the 2012 GT1 calendar on 8-9-10 June:

Ah fuck this shit, no San Luis or Zandvoort (not that there would be enough space for both GT1 and GT3 at Zandvoort)...

And the series now only races on two continents. Three is required for a World Championship. I guess FIA has already waivered this then.

AFAIK they are slightly adapted (bigger wings for example if I'm not mistaken), but really nothing substantial lol.

He's screwing his own series, that much is certain. Blancpain Endurance Series is a MASSIVE success with 50+ high quality cars + drivers, but with that series and the GT1>GT3 transition, he's left with a sad little FIA-GT3 European Championship. FIA-GT3 is also racing in Nogaro this weekend, with currently an incredible amount of...12 cars.

Still curious how the hell they are going to officially explain the continent deficit. FIA must have already given "ok" or something and stripping the WC status would put the series even deeper shit, so I don't think that is going to happen... Some forum rumours said San Luis had local issues (financial) there, might that be sort of force majeure situation because it happened so close to the start of the season?

For sure ACO wouldn't object getting the WC status for GTE.
