Just a shame the horsey owners of the track are letting the track run into disrepair

Bring back Wellington?

No chance in hell of it going back to Wellington, they've got a Greeny mayor, and well... yes... the race is run in an industrial area of the city

I'd prefer V8SC spending money on tracks they already have, not pissing $20m away on the race in Hamilton that looks like it's being run in an industrial estate.

I couldn't agree more, it isn't as though NZ doesn't have some nice tracks on which the V8's would be awesome. The obvious one will be Hampton downs when they do the extension to bring it up to international spec though I have a feeling V8 supercars (the company) wont like it because it is rural with limited local accomadation (1hr (ish) from both Auckland and Hamilton) which would interfer with their rock and racing concept. I am also a beleiver that Ruapuna would make for great racing with this catogorie but I am lead to beleive (2nd hand info) that the management isn't the best there. It would also be good to have a 2nd NZ race, one in each island! (a lot more relevant than the middle east, singapore, china etc)

Rule changes have been announced for 2011.

- The big rule change is that the Top 10 Shootout will only be contested on the Saturday at Adeaide, Hamilton, Townsville, Bathurst, Gold Coast and Sydney. Every other event will have 20 minute qualifying sessions. Good move, I found the all-in 20 minute sessions a lot more exciting than the Shootouts.

- Six wildcards will be allowed to compete at Phillip Island and Bathurst, as opposed to four. Can't see it having a big effect, considering there's been less than the maximum allowed the last two years, but it could encourage the bigger teams to maybe field extra cars.

- Drivers are not permitted to drive their cars unnecessarily slowly, erratically or dangerous to other drivers. Basically outlaws what Andrew Jones did on the Gold Coast.

And I don't think the tyre allocation has been posted, so here goes:

-Abu Dhabi: 8 sets of softs
-Adelaide: 6 sets of hards
-Grand Prix: 2 sets of hards, 3 sets of softs
-Hamilton: 8 sets of softs (should hopefully bring some decent racing there for a change...)
-Winton: 7 sets of softs
-Barbagallo: 3 sets of hards, 4 sets of softs
-Hidden Valley: 5 sets of hards, 1 set of softs
-Townsville: 6 sets of hards, 2 sets of softs
-Ipswich: 7 sets of softs
-Phillip Island: 7 sets of hards
-Bathurst: 7 sets of hards
-Gold Coast: 10 sets of softs (if it's anything like last year...)
-Tasmania: 7 sets of softs
-Sandown: 7 sets of softs
-Sydney: 6 sets of hards

One would have thought that was basic common sense to pass your CAMS observed licence test, its a worry it needs to be written into a rulebook....

Even better, get a few more of the BTCC boys in for the GC600. As Scotty already mentioned, Tom Onslow-Cole's declared he's looking for a ride (could do the other enduros though, would be a huge risk if that's the case) and guys like Jason Plato, Matt Neal (who have both raced V8's before), Mat Jackson and Tom Chilton would be crazy to not at least think about it.

But would the V8 boys approve of their driving style?

Surely couldn't be any worse than the antics of some of the local co-drivers and Villeneuve...

But who cares what the teams think, it sure as hell would be entertaining for us fans.

Yeaa, I suppose they're no where near as anal about contact as DTM is.

Nah Plato would fit in well with him.

On another note, here's the Fujitsu Commodores for 2011. Not much different to last year's scheme.

Oh, and FPR released the Orrcon scheme yesterday. I liked how Speedcafe were claiming to have first pics when V8X had a schematic on the front cover of it's current issue which came out 2-3 weeks ago.

If Patrick Long wasn't considered enough of an International 'star' for the GC600 (GRM had to pay him out of their own pocket), then would anyone in the BTCC outside Plato & Neal be likely to be considered as an international 'star'

A few of the big championships clash with the GC600 next year (WTCC etc..), which is great, free's up some of those drivers for Bathurst given the stupid "co-drivers in the GC600 can't race at PI or Bathurst" rule that has been introduced...

Blame the V8SA board (or V8S, or IV8S, Jesus Christ I can't make up my damn mind on what to use...)

From the V8 Supercar Facebook page
Quote:
It was announced today that the Car of the Future prototype is on schedule for its testing debut in the winter of this year and will be fully implemented across the entire grid in 2013. Every car in the 2013 Championship will appear on the grid at the opening event fully complying with the COF regulations.

And with that, they should just rename it from V8Supercars to local NASCAR....
