There is about 8 national series between the most popular (BTCC) and TC2000.

He's not talking about TC2000, but TC period, which probably has the worst looking cars in the history of forever.

You already got your brazilians from your "part of the globe" and the spaniards to speak perfect spanish for your pleasure, you don't need these 2 attributes from the same driver. :p

TC has better audiences than any national series, and at every race there are minium 40.000 at the circuit and when they race at Buenos Aires there are 80.000. No other series have this crowd

The amount of spectators doesnt matter, what matters is the quality of the driver.

I'm pretty sure that the best in Argentina could kick lots of Euro trash ass. Christian Ledesma is awesome.
And it does matter if you measure popularity.

TC average attendance - 50-60,000 (I assume)
DTM average attendance (taken in 2005) - 76,900
V8 Supercar average attendance (taken in 2006) - 108,000
NASCAR average attendance (taken in 2003) - 186,000

And to address scotty's assertion, while the BTCC is quite probably the best national series, it is not the most popular. The average attendance for the BTCC this season was around 39,000.

I was able to watch one of those TC races on a stream earlier this year...It just seemed like real racing, the drivers were able to slide the cars through the corners. Apart from the ugly design of the cars, it was very good.

what is your criteria to stabilish BTCC as the "best" national series?

At least to me it doesn't seem the best in any aspect. :o

Most exciting, most consistently exciting races, more door-to-door banging.

In the argentinian series there is a lot of door-to-door banging as well. At least it is my impression from a race I watched in the spetacular circuit of Portrero de los Funes. But I don't follow both series quite a lot, we need someone who watchs all of both series to make a fair comparison.

Yeah, that's my criteria. Here are just four examples from the last two seasons:

Feel free to post some TC racing if there's stuff on YouTube.

I loved when BTCC was on Motors Tv, shame I can't watch it anymore :(

As far as I remember, Lopez were not so impressive in his GP2 years: he was fast, sure, but not so fast, and I think he made a lot of mistakes.

Maybe it is a idea to start a new topic regarding which 'touring car' series is more popular, as this is the 'formula one' silly season 2010 topic, and i don't care much about an south-american touring car championship
