Holy shit! Nearly the entire field, including the 3 championship contenders, have crashed!!

V8 Race? I think stream im watching is on a delay.

Yeah. The field was on slicks on a massively wet track, and a demo derby ensured.

Haha, what lap did that happen on?

I dont understand why Whincup wasnt classified he completed 75% of the race even though he was outside the lap time rule. Whats the point of having both?

EDIT ; Never mind i just read the rules and understand it now. Basically you have to do 75% plus 1 lap which be within double the time of the leaders fastest lap.

that race was absolutely crazy. that crash should never have happened, although ultimately being a ford fan, i am pretty happy that whincup didn't get classified. looking forward to tomorrow

Yeah that's stupid, as much as I hate Whincup. It was because he didn't do a flying lap after he came out of the pits. Again, a stupid rule.

Lost in all of this was Jonathon Webb winning, and I think he came in for wet tyres before the demo derby started. If that's the case, then that's the best pit call I've seen all season. Well done to him.

I dont see it any different to a car crashing out 5 or 6 laps from the end and stil getting points surely thats happend before.

Unlike F1, in the V8s a car has to cross the line after the winner to be classified as a finisher. So a car that crashes on the last lap is a DNF and earns no points whilst someone 10 laps down earns points as long as their final lap is within 200% of the fastest lap of the leader.

The last lap DNF has been a bug bear of mine. Say for instance a car is damaged early at Bathurst loses 20 laps but finishes is classified ahead of a car that has a similar fate 2 laps from the end but can't get repaired in time.

Will be interesting to see if Courtney is penalized for when he was pushed out of the pits. there looked to be more pit crew over the line than allowed and not all were wearing appropriate safety gear.

And this is why you always pit for wet tires if you see raindrops on your windshield. Forget track position.

The weather is highly unpredictable at the moment. I was in the city here in Brisbane, one moment it was threating to rain then two seconds later it was bucketing down. We had no warning.

from my calculations, courtney only has to finish 22nd to secure the championship (worst case scenario if whincup wins)
