eNews #130
Jason Bright will drive a Wilson Security backed car next year. 3 options as to for whom.
Most likely BJR - replacing Cameron McConville.
2nd option SBR - staying as is
3rd option Walkinshaw - If Dumbrell moves to RNR, Walkinshaw has a slot open for driver with sponsor.

Bright's 2 licences. 1 for Steve Webb, other could be used by Bright to turn BJR into 3 car team. Options then for 3rd driver at BJR include Jason Bargwanna, also Karl Reindler (Wilson Security helped set up Reindler's enduro deal with Bright this year).

Steve Webb is looking for a licence for his son, Jonathon. If successful in obtaining a licence (from Britek), the likely option is for a 3 car DJR team for 2010.

The future of Paul Cruickshank Racing is unclear. eNews suggests Cruickshank was in the midst of negotiating a deal to remain on the grid in 2010, but it won't be in the form that it currently takes. One option is for a pairing with James Rosenberg and Tim Slade. Rosenberg provides a lot of the finance behind Slade.

Dean Fiore and Triple F Racing will use his current PMM VE Commodore for the first part of next year with the view to switching to a 888-built Commodore when one is available. Currently PMM transport and run the car, but for next year the teams will only have a technical alliance, with the Fiore family using the gear they purchased from IntaRacing earlier this year.

November 18th the V8SA board will meet to approve any licence changes on the market, and will also look at the potential buyback of one of the licences if they choose to do so.

IRWIN Tools will stay with SBR and Alex Davison for the next 2 years.

eNews #131, Speedcafe, and V8Supercars.com.au
Paul Cruickshank will sell his licence to Adelaide businessman James Rosenberg. If approved by V8SA, this REC will be used to run Tim Slade. eNews believes the Rosenberg/Slade entry will be a 3rd SBR car.

Cruickshank is still a chance to continue to lease the 2nd Britek licence and run a car next year. James Moffat and Jason Bargwanna are both mentioned as possible drivers. Bargwanna more likely as he has a sponsorship package for next year sorted.

Paul Dumbrell has a 3 year deal to drive the RNR/FPR car after which he will retire from V8 racing.

V8SC will use a control wheel from mid-2010. The 17" rim comes from British manufacturer Team Dynamics.

PMM won't be running customer cars in 2010. SBR still intends to run 3 cars next year (Slade) but have ruled out a partnership with Jason Bright.

Anymore details? If its a 20-spoke wheel ill murder someone. That along with window numbers will have ruined every livery for me.

The article from Speedcafe

and these look to be the wheels (can't recall which forum linked to this)

Looks like a three licences are changing hands, the two Tasman one's are going to D'Alberto & Dumbrell, while the PCR licence is going to James Rosenberg to run Tim Slade.

Perhaps the field will stay at 29 afterall?

Maybe, maybe not. I've got a feeling that if Paul Cruickshank doesn't want to continue leasing one of Jason Bright's REC's, VESA will buy it back and cut the field to 28. But then again, Bright could take one of his licences wherever he goes for that team to run 3 cars and Jonathan Webb could buy his other license...gotta love Silly Season.

Latest news
Lineup according to eNews in the first post.

Jason Bargwanna confirmed at Kelly Racing replacing Jack Perkins who is off to Lucas Dumbrell Racing.

eNews suggests Karl Reindler may suit up in a 3rd BJR car next year alongside Jason Richards and Bright. This is yet to be confirmed and there is still suggestions that the #333 REC may end up as a 4th SBR car.

4th Kelly Racing car seat is likely to go to the highest bidder.

Jonathon Webb will be in a 3rd DJR car next year after the V8SA board had an extraordinary meeting at Barbagallo to discuss the sale of the Bright licence to Steve Webb, after the parties involved requested an early decision (ahead of the board meeting after Homebush) to allow more time to prepare for next year. The REC sale remains subject to documentation being finalised. DJR has also secured all of the running gear from PCR. DJR will also buy PCR's transporter.

BJR are switching from Walkinshaw Performance engines to engines prepared by Queensland engine builder Jamie Noonan. Noonan built engines for SBR before switching to SCAR. He was with SCAR for the start of this season before the team switched to KRE engines.

V8s now on SPEED

V8 Supercars' massive US coup

V8 Supercars Australia, in association with FOX Sports USA, today (Wednesday) announced an exciting new partnership for the next three seasons where SPEED, a member of the FOX Cable Networks with more than 79 million subscribers in North America, will televise the Series to all North American subscribers the weekend after each event.

SPEED is the motorsports authority for NASCAR, Formula One MotoGP, AMA Supercross, the American Le Mans Series, the Rolex Grand American Sports Car Series and many other motorcycle and auto racing series.

SPEED is the exclusive United States broadcaster of the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the 24 hours of Le Mans, Petit Le Mans, the NASCAR Sprint Cup All-Star Race, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the Gatorade Duel at Daytona.

“V8 Supercars is one of the most exciting forms of auto racing in the world today,” FOX Sports Chairman, David Hill, said.

“It is fabulous to watch and I’m happy that we’ve been able to develop this new partnership with SPEED.”

V8 Supercars Australia Executive Chairman, Tony Cochrane, said the deal was a huge milestone in the ongoing and rapid success of V8 Supercars and its international recognition.

“This is a fantastic and exciting relationship for V8 Supercars,” he said.

“There is no question that SPEED in North America is the foremost network with regards to motorsport coverage and is the pinnacle platform in our sport; to be held in such regard by this highly professional organisation is a great testament to the quality of our television coverage and our racing.

“Each year we build our international presence and our TV reach next season will go to in excess of 135 customer countries in varied forms of live, delayed and packaged highlights.

“We are delighted to announce that the coverage will commence with next week’s Sydney Telstra 500 being shown on SPEED over the weekend of December 12 and 13 in North America as a taste of what North American fans can view all of next season.

“I would like to thank David Hill personally and the entire FOX Sports and SPEED teams for showing their great faith in V8 Supercars.

“This is the first of many new international TV announcements that will be rolled out between now and our opening event at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi next year.”

Hill was a guest of V8 Supercars Australia at this year’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 and he declared the sport amongst the best racing he had seen in the world.

He believes the category will warm to the hearts of Americans who have made NASCAR the second biggest sport in the US.

Excellent!
The only thing worrying me is that there's so much in here from David Hill, who is genuinely fucking crazy.

About damn time. Last time I watched the V8 Supercars was in 2004, the Surfer's Paradise round.

That is great news about V8's being on here in the states. I'm not so sure about Diffey and Ambrose commentary though. I mean I know they'll do a great job but I may continue to grab the torrents because I really enjoy Matty, Neil, Aaron, Mark, Mark, Mark, Briony...and sometimes Mr. Denyer on Seven.

Castrol will sponsor the 2nd PMM car for 2010 (likely to be Murphy driving it), and will still provide bonnet sponsorship for FPR.

I'll get in on the act as well. FPR/RNR launched the Bottle-O livery at the Sydney Telstra 500 a couple of weeks ago, not sure if it was posted here or not.

And a signing out of left field today; Daniel Gaunt will be driving for Lucas Dumbrell Motorsports next season with a multi-year deal and sponsorship from Gulf Western Oils.

Speedcafe wrote:
Daniel Gaunt will drive for Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport in 2010 – and it all started with a message on Facebook.

Gaunt contacted the newest V8 Supercar team owner via the popular social networking site last week, and now, the pair will team up for their first full-time crack at the V8 Supercar Championship Series.

The New Zealander will compete in #30 Commodore VE – the Walkinshaw Racing chassis that Garth Tander took to championship victory in 2007.

LDM has secured Gaunt’s services in a multi-year deal, as well as sourcing major sponsorship from Gulf Western Oils.

Lucas Dumbrell – V8 Supercar’s first quadriplegic team owner – exclusively told Speedcafe.com.au that he’s excited to have a first-year driver in his first-year team.

”He’s a young guy and he’s never been given a good chance, so I’m happy to provide that for him,” Dumbrell said.

“I’m in the game for a long time, so I figured I should start with a driver I can work with in the long-term.

“We’ve got realistic expectations for our first year, but there’s no doubt that by the mid-point of the season, we won’t be hanging around the back of the field.”

Gaunt will get his first drive of the Commodore VE in a hand-over day at Winton in late January before his first full-blown test during the V8 Supercar test day at the same track on February 8.

Gaunt, 24, who has driven two solo V8 rounds with Team Kiwi Racing in 2008, plus last year’s endurance races with Stone Brothers Racing, was pleased to have secured his first main ride.

“It’s a great opportunity,” he said.

“It’s great that Lucas has given me this chance. I’m just an ordinary guy with an extraordinary chance.

“The equipment is great, and it’s proven. It’s all Walkinshaw Racing gear – engines, the whole package. It will be the best V8 Supercar I’ve ever driven. Lucas has assembled a great team, so bring it on.

“Main Series V8s is extremely challenging, but we’re all up to it.”

Gaunt drove in six of the seven Fujitsu V8 Supercar rounds this year, finishing fifth, despite missing the final round at Sydney Olympic Park.
