Will Davison has proven a strong contender, but HRT will hope to have got on top of their power steering problems after having at least 3 failures so far in the opening 2 race meetings. Lee Holdsworth and Jason Richards have also been strong contenders, but no-one Ford or Holden has yet shown the pace to run with 888. Whincup should be the favourite, but then again he is yet to run a race lap around this circuit after his qualifying shunt last year. The wall that Whincup hit last year has been reprofiled and flattened in one of a few minor changes to the circuit. The entry to turn 3 has been reprofiled and the large bump at the change of surface has been removed. The wall on the outside of the exit of Turn 3 has been pushed back and straightened, and the back straight chicance has been modified, with the kerb at the exit removed, and the wall at the exit pushed back and the track realigned. Once again we have a new qualifying system to appease those who didn’t like one qualifying session setting the grid for both races. A 20 minute all in session will be held just under 2 hours before the start of Sunday’s race. Yeah does seem like a cracker to drive but the racing seems to lack a little. But you never know, maybe they will take their crazy pills for this weekend. |

I did a track walk today with International Motorsports Here are the notable changes The exit of this corner has been made much wider, the barriers have been pushed back maybe 1.5 meters so the cars will be able get on the power much earlier Here is the Chicane, yes there are only 3 parts to it now (in the picture the 1st part is directly to the left of me so you can't see it) The barriers of the exit on this corner have been made more parallel to the track after Whincups big crash last year They have resealed a portion of the back part of the track which was quite bumpy last year This corner, they have added the rumble strip on the entry, Jono Lester said it's mainly just to create incidents On the main straight they have pushed the barriers back a wee bit, so now there is a little grass verge on the side, nothing too major but you wouldn't want to get squeezed onto it. oh and.... shit hot!! |

The three parts of Practice have been completed for the V8s. All teams should be on new tyres, but it would be interesting to know which teams but on new tyres at the end of the session to set a fast lap. Some surprising results from Part C. Alex Davison 3rd. Marshall 8th. Tander 16th. Rick Kelly 20th. Whincup 21st. Bargwanna 27th with Murphy 6th. McConville 28th with Jason Richards 2nd. Seriously where has Marshal suddenly found all this pace? Perhaps Britek was pretty poorly managed from an engineering standpoint? Either way, in the older car he's doing pretty damn well. |

Perkins backed his car into the wall at the same corner where Whincup crashed last year, which would explain the reason why he only ran 4 laps in Practice 3. Not sure whether the car is fixable or not. |

I think it may just have been the Britek Barge that he had to deal with, if he and Bright had had 888 machinery I'm sure they would have been running far better. It is a good surprise to see Marshall doing well though, given pretty much everyone had written him off. |

Is qualifying usually shown on the live streams? Hoping to catch it this evening, but if not, just the races are cool too |
