Quote:
After earlier proposals featuring GTE, spec cars were rejected, and with little enthusiasm for a switch to TCR spec cars either, the latest options are laid out by German publication Motorsport Total – online story in German here.

The favoured option, as previously referred to on DSC, appears to surround GT3 cars but an additional proposal has also been tabled suggesting that LMDh prototypes could be considered from 2022.

...

The LMDh cars though will not be available until 2022 at the very earliest. Such a move would likely bring substantial potential savings when measured against current Class One budgets, and for that matter, if customer cars were involved, would increase the sustainability of manufacturer LMDh plans.

So that leaves the DTM with the option of trying to struggle through 2021 (and probably 2022 too) with either the Class One format on life support or some form of GT3 bridging plan.

Maybe they could switch to Funeral Hearse racing?

Mercedes produces those after all, and they are also relevant to the dtm demographic.

Newey has nicked what would have been Jones' seat after he got stuck in Dubai.

Free practice at Spa now. Kubica went 4th fastest on his first flying lap in DTM, damp conditions. Pretty cool.

Pretty good race. Nico Müller was amazing, don't think I've seen a bigger winning margin in DTM ever. Tyre wear humongous, which was fun.

Seriously awesome racing this weekend too. Auer played his cards perfectly and detroned Glock on the final lap today.

2021 proposal is "GT(3) Plus", GT3 with extra power and a push-to-pass system

Assen this weekend. Watching the Tourenwagen Classics qualifying, the Zakspeed Capri from 1980 is not even 5 seconds slower than the modern day DTM cars! Beast.

SC start, very wet racetrack.

Edit: Commentators say they are going for a standing start after 10 mins of running.

Duval basically saying don't put me on wets and the team puts him on wets during pitstop.
