Well, if you can have an ATS Formel 3 Cup Race on the Oval without anyone dieing, I'm pretty sure DTM could do it aswell. Though if you ask me, they should just use Oval Turn 1 instead of the Infield. The track would be much better.

They were gonna do British F3 oval races at Rockingham, but canned the idea. :(

There were some V8Star races on the oval. I don't really remember much about them, but one had quite a large race-stopping crash.

But although circuit owner Mateschitz, who runs the Red Bull energy drinks company, is injecting 70m Euros into the project for new pit buildings and grandstands, the Austrian billionaire said linking the circuit with a return to the F1 calendar makes no sense.

He said Germany's DTM series will be the main attraction for the track once it is completed in 2010

Nice to hear that we can expect a DTM race but sad that good old tracks like the A1-ring have no chance in F1 anymore!!
Just a few numbers: Abu Dhabi will pay 45M Dollar every Year to CVC Capital Partners, Singapur 40M, Malaysia 41M...
Non state-funded tracks like Hockenheim have no chance in future and will disappear in F1

Some new bits of news: http://www.raceworks.de/?p=1233

According to this motorsport journalist, there'll be a change in the weekend's schedule. Friday's only a 30 minute roll-out, Saturday's free practice takes 2 and a half hours, followed by Qualifying. Speaking of which, Q3 is supposed to be modified. How? No idea yet!

Also some line-up news, private team Futurecom TME want to use two 2007 Audis, while Katherine Legge's 2008 Audi will be serviced by the Abt Sportsline team.

Yeh. They ran a couple of German F3 Championship races on the oval a couple of years ago. They stopped it on safety grounds I think. I remember Joey Foster breaking his back really badly when he crashed in one of the races and this was one of the main reasons they stopped doing it.

I searched for it on Youtube, the only thing I got, was a amateur video of an oval test at Lausitz with F3 cars. Still weird, but cool to see.

Maybe the grandstands will be built in due course.

I can understand him. He's not getting one of the four 2009 cars, so why bother being behind in an older car?
