With this economic crisis teams ain't really waiting for oversees races, I guess. Although they lost one of the best tracks of the calendar. Guess we will see it again at the World Championship in 2010 (If that even continues with the current economic climate)

Had a look at the provisional timetable for the Silverstone meeting and hadn't realised British F3 was also supporting the meeting which is a bonus... haven't seen it for a few years since they stopped coming to Knockhill.

GT3 entry apparently consists of:

2 x Ascari KZ1R
4 x Aston Martin DBRS9
4 x Audi R8 LMS
4 x BMW Alpina B6
4 x Corvette Z06R
2 x Viper Competition Coupe
6 x Ferrari F430 Scuderia
6 x Ford GT
2 x Jaguar XKR-S
2 x Lamborghini Gallardo
2 x Morgan Aero Super Sport
6 x Porsche 997 GT3 Cup S

I always thought Paul ricard was a pure test track and the spectator facilities weren't that big. Can someone tell me more ?

It pretty much is, although they have held the occasional race there recently. They had a FIA GT race there in 2006, but it wasn't attended by many fans due to, as you mention, there been no spectator facilities there.

The 2010 GT1 World project aims to set up a World Championship title for independent teams, based on the FIA balance of Performance system which has proved so successful in keeping close competition and balanced costs in the GT1 and GT3 categories. A truly global programme aims at 12 events in 12 countries, on five continents. Letters of intent have been received from circuits in Argentina, Australia, Great Britain, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Belgium, Romania, Russia, Bulgaria, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates. The single GT1 class would consist of six brands, a maximum of 24 cars, two cars per team and two teams per brand. Only full-season entries would be eligible, as is currently the case in GT3. The teams would receive substantial support for the long-distance events. With a general format of two one-hour races per event, a qualifying race and a Championship race, there would be one winner per weekend. However, the continuation of the 24-hour race at Spa would maintain the endurance nature of the cars.

As for the cars, the 2010 technical regulations have been drafted in collaboration with the ACO and approved by the FIA World Motor Sport Council in December, to be applied in the FIA Championships and in the ACO series. The 2010 GT1 cars can be developed by the manufacturers or independent tuners. A compromise between the cost-effective approach successfully developed with GT3, the detailed technical regulations of GT2 and the need to have distinctive cars, 2010 GT1 cars can be specifically built, an evolution of existing GT3 cars or a 2010 GT2 car with a performance kit.

"World Championship" is going ahead:

http://fiagt.com/newsitem.php?key=2059

Quote:
During today's meeting of the FIA's World Motor Sport Council, the FIA confirmed that The FIA has reached agreement with SRO to be the promoter of the new FIA GT1 World Championship from 2010.

As part of this agreement, the FIA GT Championship (GT1 and GT2) and the GT3 European Championship, will be split into three distinct and easily identifiable FIA GT Championships. The FIA GT1 World Championship will be for independent teams and professional drivers, the FIA GT2 European Championship for independent teams and pro-am driver crews, and the FIA GT3 European Championship for independent teams and non-professional drivers.

No corso at this years Spa 24 hours

Normally cars go under their own power from the circuit to the Spa casino for public display and drivers briefing in the Casino on wednesday. It's a fantastic sight to see GT1 cars on secondary belgian roads.

Sadly this year Spa hosts a large flemish/french music festival which ends on tuesday night and their is no time to set the casino square up for FIA-GT

RACB followed the request of the Spa mayor to cancel this years corso

Instead public pitwalks are held on wednesday, thursday and friday for 20€ plus a 60€ entry+paddock ticket - what a rip-off

I hope they do a parade lap on the old circuit...
