Race start: Saturday 11:00 local time

Not great entry list - only 12 cars but it is high-quality as all but two cars are in PRO class. Already weeks ago Mercedes opted not to send any teams due covid concerns.

Only supporting series is WV Supa / Polo Cup and if it is streamed, it will be on the on the intercontinentalgtchallenge.com stream and and not Youtube.

What a shame...surely the current situation is to blame for this, but I'm wondering if the Intercontinental Challenge is actually working.

Personally I love the format, but I find it strange the there are just 3 driver lineups who contested every race. Again, it could be very well related to travel restrictions.

Most likely due to the current situations + economy. Apparently no local entries that could fill in. Last year's grid was good, Bathurst & Spa always have great grids, Suzuka has had good grids too. Only the US round continiously have a lousy grid.

The cup is about manufacturer points, and manufacturers designate teams that score points. This rule has been pretty successful as they can designate local teams when possible and partially explains why same lineups don't show up for more races.

I'm just happy there is racing.

That's exactly why I think it's a great format. Relying on local teams which already run in their continental or national series and their equipment is a good cost cutting measure, among other advantages.

Too bad we'll have to skip the Bathurst 12h for next year.
2019 was the only year we saw the full schedule spanning 5 continents so far, but I hope we can regulalry enjoy it in its full form again from 2022 on.

And nonetheless the racing in this first part of Kyalami 9h has been great...

Sometimes even those of us who are all "OMG just let the teams throw some wet tyres on and deal with the conditions themselves, stop trying to baby the sport with VSCs for rain alone" have to realise when there's a too much rain falling

That little stint was probably the wettest I've ever seen green flag racing tbh, no wonder the VSC came out

When cars start aquaplaning there's not much else to do but neutralize the race. It's objectively a safety hazard.
