Scott Dixon out of the Gold Coast race and replaced with Emanuele Pirro. Pirro will partner Shane Van Gisbergen.

It's an opportunity they would probably not have gotten and it's a foot in the door for them. I don't see how they have nothing to gain from it, if they perform well on their own accord, others will take notice and it may land them a dev series drive as well. Pretty awesome opportunity imo.

Its only an opportunity if you get to drive the V8Supercar at some point, mucking around driving Megane's inbetween witches blind-folded isn't showing anybody anything

What the show should have done is put the Renault's to better use and enter two or three of them in each round of the Australian Manufacturers Championship and rotate the drivers throughout the year as they removed people from the competition.

That way the Proddies get more entries, the prospective drivers get to race, Renault gets some competitive advertising (maybe even a title), and a season of racing could culminate in a drive at the most important event in Australia.
My post was in reference to the winner who gets to drive the V8, not the show itself, which I agree is a waste.

Looks like nexts years race at Hamilton will be the last, I wonder where they will have the NZ race now? they apparently want another street circuit (why they just don't go to Hampton Downs I'll never know....)

From what I saw on last weeks episode, they got about as much time in a V8 as what you get at a V8 race experience/drive school day. Knowing 2 amateurs and a girl were going to drive it they probably de-tuned it to the point where it was just as quick as one of those hire cars.

lol I meant the winner of the show who gets to drive Bathurst.

And the v8 challenge winner is... 16 year old Cameron Waters. Prepare for a Bargs-style debut in the wall on the warmup lap.

That's if he gets that far. And if he does get it past the warmup lap.....it'll be in the wall not long after.

He was more impressive of the two in the V8 imo, far smoother and he was quicker. Can't see him being competitive though.

The one with the Holden windscreen banner was the worst of the lot. Pathetic.

But how could you tell from the miniscule amount of featured running in the car?

The entire competition coming down to a two lap quali effort was farcical, but then again completely in keeping with the flow and quality of the program.

Well they have obviously made up their mind before the show even started, I mean it's laughable to think (no offense) that those girls would be capable and there were only really those last two who ever would have had a real chance. Then they went for the local guy from their hometown (shock horror). I don't think he will do terribly though, hell we were running a rookie out of the mazda mx5 championship in the Development series at bathurst for his first ever V8 drive in 09 and he did pretty well, didn't put a mark on the car all weekend and he was by no means as capable as the winner of the show. I think he will do alright, his problem is fitness.

Good that they will be running as support to the F1, should help with viewers and crowds etc.

Maybe it's Bahrain, they might be waiting on the political situation over there.

Or is it confirmed that they aren't going back there?
