Should be pretty good. Calder does have abit of a 'rallying' history in a way, with it hosting rallycross for many years there..... infact in 2009 there was a plan to run Rallycross there.

Its also interesting to see a CAMS-sanctioned event running at Calder, given the problems between Bob Jane and CAMS for many years.

The only downside is someone had a brain malfunction & has allowed this event to clash with the Clipsal 500.... very silly

I was going to make a Bathurst thread, but couldn't find a complete driver line up, but in Bathurst related news, reports are saying the race will be broadcast in it's entirety LIVE on Speed2 in the US.

Speedcafe said (a week ago, just read it then though) that it will be confirmed after Bathurst that Lee Holdsworth will replace Alex Davison at Stone Brothers for 2012.

Too bad Speed2 is an online channel that can be expensive to get (Would be 8 dollars a month with my cable), that I believe relatively few people still have access to.

Both the Bathurst 1000 and the Gold Coast 600 will be live in North America on Speed Channel. I guess in addition to the Speed2 coverage that had been announced.

...and Speed will be showing it in HD, where as Channel 7 won't. So I'll definately be d/l the Speed version of these races.

It's V8TV who won't film it in HD. If they did film it in HD, then Channel 7 would show it in HD (ie...not Channel 7's fault)

Speed will probably just be showing it on their HD channel (eg.. like Speed in Australia does with its World Superbike coverage, it isn't filmed in HD, but their HD channel still shows the races)

Not V8SC, as such, but in 2012, Rally Melbourne is coming back, and it will a unique event at the Calder Park Thunderdome. The entire rally will be within the bounds of the thunderdome, no forests, no country gravel lanes, all around the old circuit AND the Thunderdome.

More from that article, the new regs have also been announced for 2013 banning 4WD cars...... good in theory, however the name choice of "Group G2" for the new FWD class is interesting given the negative connotations that name brings up from the 80s when Australian rallying was last in the doldrums......

Still remember Peter Brock's death. Heard it on the radio coming home from school (I was in year 11), I was shattered. Definitely doesn't feel like 5 years ago. Steve Irwin had only died 5 days earlier, was terrible to lose two of Australia's biggest and best icons so quickly.

Yeah, I remember my dad telling me when Igot picked up from school. I can't believe it's been 5 years though.

YES YES MOTHERFUCKING YES!

This is a fabulous early birthday present! It's too bad we couldn't fit Phillip Island onto this as well, but beggars can't be choosers. Very happy about this!

Leigh Diffey tweeted awhile back that, he, Cochrane and David Hill who is president of Fox Sports had dinner in Charlotte and that some interesting and exciting things were on the horizon. I figured an announcement about this or maybe the full season live was forthcoming. I'm guessing it will be Diffey and Calvin Fish going over for sure... interested to see who the broadcast team is going to be.

edit: The broadcasting team is going to be Diffey, DW and Mike Joy in the booth?! And Calvin Fish in the pits? What the hell? I could see Joy in the booth because he has experience doing international motorsports in the past, but DW?? What the hell does he know about V8's, except that Ambrose came from there, probably nothing!

DW? Why DW? I suppose SPEED had to keep something to do with NASCAR on it, didn't they?

Love Murphs car, awesome livery imo. Star wars hood looks out of place, but any time star wars is on something it's win.
