the only way is go old school and race cars based on production vehicles called homologation specials

If there's one formula that definitely won't work it's that.

motorsports should head to the small niche that are piston engines moved by petrol while the world commutes on electric vehicles

my logic is since non motorsport fans doesn't watch it anyway it doesn't make a difference if the cars have the traditional engines or not, so stay with what always suceeded

True. I don't know anybody that does watch Formula E but doesn't watch traditional motorsport. And very few that watch both but prefer formula E. The (OEMs) question should be if the general public buys more of their electric or hybrid products if they don't follow electric racing.

I'm not saying electric cars shouldn't race, of course they should race but not replacing the traditional race car

the problem is on the manufacturers, 30 years ago their marketing relied mostly on how powerful and reliable their cars were (those 80's Peugeot running through balls of fire) or their successes on the track. Today the focus is to show they aren't the villains of modern life (but you are when you do emissions tampering), specially when they market their cars for safety (you could be safe in a SUV, but since everyone is purchasing SUVs what happens if you crash into another SUV?), mileage and "fun"

But if motorsports has always been about the pursuit of a speed advantage over your competition, ignoring the technology that has already surpassed ICE for acceleration and top speed is sorta just burying your head in the sand. I agree going electric to look green is stupid, but going electric because it's faster is just good business.

Not bad. Nice racing, good turn-out, good driving standards, no wrecking, no silly spins, and some really special cars!

Shame Biela couldn't make it. Nice to see Wickens.

Formula E can do 60 minute races at Formula 3 speeds. There are other aspects than just top speed and acceleration.

Edit: what do you mean with top speed :?

touring cars could house more batteries that Formula E, of course at weight expense. Unless they change the sleek saloons and coupes for coupe SUVs like BMW X6 or Mercedes GLC coupé, which seems more feasible on the "win on sunday, sell on monday" logic

Didn't see Sophia Flörsch either? But yes, was random to see Biela in the entry list. Wickens had problem with his hand brake so he had use a make-shift solution that didn't work out, that was why he was so bad.

Overall, very nice touch with the 1992 cars, too bad they go with modern cars for the rest of the races.

Spa will be without spectators as well, and Zolder is a shit track.

They should have tried to run Sachsenring over Zolder

When I'm at Zolder, I can't imagine that F1 once chose to hold a GP there. And then come back for 9 other GPs! Even Champ Cars thought it was a good idea!
