Massive crash at the start of the V8 Race. They hit the same way Zanardi hit years ago, was it Zanardi i'm thinking about? |

Christian Fittapaldi suffered a broken leg when he slammed the wall in 1997, at the same point that Coulthard hit today. Hard hit for Coulthard, pushed the fence back a good half a metre if not more. Quite close to where the crowd were standing. |

The start of the last race was the biggest farce i have ever seen in motorsport. Worse than F1 Indy 05 IMO! |

Wouldn't be so much of a problem if it was an exhibition or a non-championship round, but it's incredible that they mess around with the very nature of racing like that when there's consequences that could affect the championship. I reckon Skaife, Crompton and the rest pretty much speak for everyone though, they really need to get together and try and solve these stupid problems. |

There was an accident at the first chicane on lap 1, between Ingall and Lowndes, which caused a safety car... the officials had decided prior to the weekend that if a safety car was called on lap 1 due to an accident at the chicane, for the restart cars would be placed in grid order..... Basically the race to the first chicane was forgotten about, and hard earned places lost..... except that Ingall's car had been damaged, and Lowndes still got a drive-through for causing it That, coupled with the Rick Kelly black flag in race 1, meant it was hardly a stellar day PR wise for V8Supercars, on a weekend where they needed to be making as good an impression as they good, given they are trying to convince the government to press on with the event as a 'V8-focused' event next year... |

Who decided this was a good idea? C'mon Surfers, find Superleague Formula, ALMS, World Series by Renault or hell, anything to fill the void left by A1GP... Don't let V8 Supercars dick about with it because they think they're the kings of Paradise... |

If is was called for debris, a marshal could have gone out onto the track when the field was down the back of the circuit and the race could have stayed green. And to think they called a safety car for that, yet they didn't call one when Courtney stuffed his car into the turn 1 wall... And the Rick Kelly black flag was a joke. I'd have no problem if there was consistency, but Coulthard was allowed to spill water (I think) on the track at Queensland in August yet black-flagged Rick for leaking fuel that was going to recitfy as the fuel load burned off. |

Nice guy and I'm glad he's got a solid tv career to continue, cos he's never cut the mustard as a driver IMO. |

He's never had the equipment, in V8Supercars at least, to show his talents at the front of the field. In the likes of GT-Production, and later Super Touring, he showed the talent he had. |

I've just noticed after flicking through the EPG, that tomorrow's V8 coverage is on at Midnight thanks to horse racing. What utter crap. Not sure if that is an Australia wide thing, but it's definitely the case in Adelaide. Sundays coverage is at the more conventional midday time however. |

I read somewhere (can't remember where) that the midnight coverage was for qualifying and the shootout, while race 1...err...race 21 will be shown on the Sunday. Probably makes sense for the one hour timeslot on Saturday. However it won't bother me one iota, as I'll be heading out to Phillip Island tomorrow. |

Probably makes sense for the one hour timeslot on Saturday. Could certainly be the case. Either way this is a VESA issue, not a Channel 7 one. Seven have had the Cup Carnival for years, and VESA knew the score when they dropped the Bahrain round for a local round, but kept the date the same. 7 were willing, as in previous years, to give the Bahrain event full coverage on the Friday and Saturday nights One must wonder whether this is a trial for; A) Time shifting the telecasts, as this is apparently the plan for Abu Dhabi and Bahrain next year, delay showing them until the Saturday and Sunday afternoons in Australia next year, and B) possible shift to 2-day events in the future. |

I had forgotten to change the title. Been paying more attention to the silly season so far. McConville retiring. Coulthard from Paul Cruickshank Racing to Walkinshaw Racing (likely Bundy Red car) Lucas Dumbrell a chance to purchase a Tasman licence. Potentially to run a car for Jack Perkins. Tony D'Alberto in the market for the 2nd Tasman licence. V8SA could cut the number of licences back to 28 by purchasing any licence on the market. Greg Murphy looking at drives (Kelly Racing, Paul Morris, Brad Jones) Rod Nash taking his licence and Bottle-O sponsorship to expand FPR to 3 cars. Paul Dumbrell linked to the seat. Fujitsu moving to Garry Rogers meaning Jason Bright is without a sponsor for next year. Interesting to hear his comment today that suggested his current relationship was coming to an end meaning a move from SBR. Race 21 was run today, Race 22 tomorrow. Race 21 Bright did a stellar job putting the car on pole from Will Davison and Whincup in the Shootout. The luck didn't keep up for Bright. Was 3rd by Turn 1, where he ran Todd Kelly wide onto the grass. Kelly rejoined the circuit and pushed Bright off the track at Turn 2. Only SC for the race was for Todd Kelly and Lowndes coming together at Turn 2. Lowndes had made a pass at Turn 10, Todd got back alongside along the front straight, Lowndes slid wide at Turn 1, which allowed Todd to push past (not completely). Lowndes came back up the inside at Turn 2, taking both cars off the track and into the gravel. Lowndes reversed out of the gravel trap to finish 18th*. I'd have gone with racing incident, but Lowndes accepted the charge of dangerous driving and took a 38 second penalty for his troubles which will drop him back to 28th, only ahead of Todd who lost a lap in the gravel. Todd Kelly was also penalised 10 championship points for not having all 4 wheels off the ground when refuelling. In the end Whincup took the race from Will Davison and Rick Kelly. Not a bad race, and the tire wear tomorrow could create some interesting viewing. Code: V8 SUPERCARS - Race 21 |
