Just got back from the Clipsal launch in the city. Quite a few drivers there (Skafie, Murphy, Richards, Van Gisbergen, Canto, Holdsworth, Slade, Ingall, Courtney and Johnson), a handfull of cars including 8 V8's (3 of which were real, minus gearbox and engine, the rest were painted up road cars), 1 Fujitsu car (mock up), 2 Wests, 2 TCM cars (1 porsche, 1 camaro), 2 GT cars (Gallardo and Porsche GT3) and a Ferrari 599 GTB road car, and a Jessica Mauboy concert to finish the afternoon off. Just a few announcements that came from the launch. 1. The free age for children has been raised from 12 to 14 for any child who attends with an adult ticket holder. 2. A new parking lot and 'Australia's biggest beer garden' will be made on one of the ovals within the circuit. 3. Murray Walker will be back as the track commentator. 4. Hamish and Andy will be broadcasting their radio show live from the circuit on the Friday for SAFM's "Pants off friday party". 5. Concerts. Thursday: Eskimo Joe + 1 support Friday: TBA at a later date (something special apparently) Saturday: Jess Mauboy, Wes Carr + this years idol winner Sunday: Status Quo, Noiseworks, Ian Moss and Mental as Anything 6. Support Categories Fujitsu V8's. Australian GT Championchip returns, as does the Aussie Racing Cars and Touring Car Masters. The utes will return with a bonus 'legends race' (i'm assuming this would be old v8 drivers in utes). 2 new categories on the bill. Mini Challenge here for the first time, as well as Super Sports, which is basically IMSA lights, with West's and such. |

Whilst I'm looking forward to the extra distance of racing this weekend, the shorter races 200km down to 150km does reduce the chance of brake wear coming into play. Hopefully there is at least one good race this weekend, but more than likely it will be just follow the leader with maybe a crash or two. Not much expected. Fingers crossed that 7 show some Aussie Racing Cars but more than likely the support action shown will come from Formula Ford and the Minis. As well as showing some of the Australian Legends. The Australian Legends, a late addition to the program to kill some of the gap left by the A1GP, are 10 classic Australian Touring cars doing demonstration runs. If anyone cares, Dale Wood will be back in the 16 this weekend. Expect plenty of bent panels towards the back then (but not as far back as McNally, who couldn't even keep up with Dean Fiore, he was that slow...) |

Natsoft has McNally in the car which seems accurate seeing he was 3 seconds off Fiore's pace in Part A, and is currently 2.6 seconds off Fiore's pace in Part B. Seems like a bit of carnage today. (all from Ten-Tenths) Part A - Red Flag 8 mins in. D'Alberto head on at Turn 2 chicane. Hence didn't take part in Part B. Part B - Red Flag Debris. Part B - Red Flag. Patrizi into tyres at final turn. Got it going again and back to pits. Part B - Perkins spun, head on with Bright. Both continued to pits. Part B - Holdsworth wiped off the LHS off his Commodore in the pits. Part B - Red Flag. Whincup hard into the fence at the T2 Chicane. Fair bit of work to do. |

105% is the rule, but the cutoff for 105% was 1m54.7509 which McNally was inside of. Top 10 Shootout - Ingall's time deleted for cutting a chicane, Courtney put it in the tyres at the 2nd chicane, after narrowly missing doing the same at the 1st chicane. Code: V8 SUPERCARS - Top 10 Shootout Race 19 Part A Results
1st Safety Car - Lap 1 for Jason Richards failing to take the back straight chicane due to broken steering. Toddler, McConville, D'Alberto all caught out down at Turn 3 on Lap 1. On the restart Whincup and Bright made contact, puncturing Whincup's right rear and damaging Bright's power steering. 2nd Safety Car - For Fiore at Turn 3. 3rd Safety Car - Holdsworth failed to negotiate the 1st chicane, and Caruso in between Bargwanna and Whincup entered the chicane without seeing the stranded Holdsworth and couldn't do much to avoid hitting the tyres and clipping the front of Holdsworth. Both GRM cars out together. Great drive from Van Gisbergen 18th to 5th. Whincup dropped to 27th after his puncture and recovered to 13th. Code: V8 SUPERCARS - Race 19 - Part A
|
