I take it they didn't do a great job of "quietly" culling them this year. And as usual, while that happens, we're on commercials...

As both a wildlife worker and a race fan, I don't know why Bathurst doesn't just put up roo proof fencing around the track. Culling is a pretty horrible thing to do just for a once-a-year race.

I read an article on it that appeared on Digg.com a few years back. If the track wasn't there then they'd still have to do culling for a list of reasons anyway. I can't remember (and don't really care that much if I'm honest), but the track is only one of many reasons lol.

Fiore went off the track and got stuck in the gravel.

I'd be interested to read it if you ever find it again. Having been to Bathurst a few times, the roo population there isn't ridiculous to the point of making culling necessary. Usually they justify it because the roos are getting into farmland and commercial property, and bullets are cheaper than decent fencing.

I'd go find it, but Digg 4.0 was released recently and it's so bad that I fear it'd give me cancer if I loaded the website.

I won't pretend to know more than you, and I'd defiantly take your opinion over mine, I'm just quoting some random internet article, which could be complete BS too. :p

Was just thinking, it's pretty funny the outrage frenzy Aussie media whip up about stray dogs getting into the Commonwealth Games athletics events, but roos on the track at Bathurst every year are no biggie
