The GP layout can only be used a certain number of times a year, and the touring car series that gets to use it is the WTCC. DTM and BTCC have to stay on the Indy track.

I always thought they could use it 6 times a year. Once for the British Superbikes/World Superbikes/A1GP/The Brands Classic/British F3/Brit GT and the WTCC.

Anyway, looking forward to this. I always seem to like the DTM in Britian and if rain does appear it will spice up the action a bit.

the other one was reserved for A1, right?
Well, you feel it coming I suppose... A1 will not be racing this year there (at least that's what I've heard and read). So outside WTCC there's place for another race on the GP layout.

I think its to do with noise pollution and houses being close to the track, on the GP layout, or something. Someone else may be able to confirm this.

WTCC (and supports) use it for 3 days, and A1GP uses it as well, right? Any other series using the track?

Brit superbikes/Brit F3/GT, a classic meeting and World Superbikes

Yes. There are houses behind the forest outside what was Dingle Dell\is now Sheene's. You can look at it on Google Earth.

I did actually wander where the houses were and now I know, so cheers for that.

Yeah, looking at it, the houses run down from Sheene's all the way down to the rejoining of the Indy circuit. Just before the bridge, there's a couple of houses with only 1 line of trees seperating them from the barrier.

Don't think it is, at least not according to the BTCC website.

Next year they should be using it (I presume A1GP will not be racing at Brands Hatch in 2009).

Yeah, I've just checked. Next year. I got mixed up because initially it was supposed to be on the GP circuit for this year, and then they changed it to the Indy circuit. I thought they'd changed back again but I got the year wrong
