What a pity about the LMP2 class due to the ****** financial managers in the United States :yuk:

Already VM-Motorsport pulling the plug, but quite certainly the car will be still around - it's just the question how good the new team will be then...
Essex dropping out, no idea about the car for next season. A big loss, especially with Super John. I hope he gets a car for next year. He's such a friendly man.

And Embassy, they were just getting to terms with their car, able to score a podium. I've expected them to be a close competitor next season - and not to forget about the Embassy girls. From what I've ready they've stopped ALL racing activities which would include BSB then

I was looking through the FIA GT website for that Argentine round at the San Luis (Potrero de los Funes) track and I discovered that the TC2000 and Formula Renault 1.6 will be the supports for the round.

Formula Renaults around that track?!

Epic.

No but

Chief Operating Officer Tim Mayer also announced two opportunities for teams to participate in post-season Le Mans races in Japan and China. In a partnership announced by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) in June at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Japan begins a Le Mans-style series in 2009. Up to 10 teams from the American Le Mans Series will be invited to join teams from Europe's Le Mans Series as well as Asian teams

Penske leaving Porsche for Toyota?

Quote:
Roger Rumors Department

Yup, a whole department, just for Roger. Is Penske going to Grand Am? Staying in ALMS? Penske with Porsches? Toyotas? Hell, how about Penske buying Grand Am? Or buying out the Don? Murphy doesn’t have enough ink to catalogue every Roger rumor and variation. (Actually, DSC did reasonably well with that). What the Bear can do here is cut to the quick. Are these predictions? Well, just kinda, sorta, because Murphy pretty much just reports what he hears around the paddock. Sometimes, though, the poop is flying so fast, he has to sort it out, add some things up, give the “good guys” (the ones most often right) a little weight, and “bottom line” it. So…here goes. Roger will race a DP or two at Daytona. There are a couple available. He may do another Grand Am race. Roger will likely (not 100%, but close) race a full ALMS schedule in 2009. It likely will not be with Porsche.

Think about it, Penske are moving all of his teams into Toyota but it must be the silly season starting now.

That rumour is not unsubstantiated. Ever since the Toyota rumours popped up a few weeks ago, I've been suspecting a Toyota LMP1 effort - might not be surprised to see Penske head there to run their cars in the ALMS - wonder if we might finally see Penske at Le Mans then? ;)

Also, a number of reports are popping up that Dyson will be dropping the RS Spyders for next year. My best guess says we'll see them running Lola's again, and they'd be the new Coupes. Not sure if they'll be the LMP1 or LMP2 variant - especially with Acura and Toyota joining the P1 ranks... Something to watch over the next few weeks.

Also, hearing reports that Audi's R15 engine has been tested off-track... Also reports that the R15 will be another open-top prototype.

God, I love the American Le Mans Series. :)

More like few months ago :) --> http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/64831

Originally Japanese media reported "Toyota in Le Mans 2010 with hybrid", which was bollocks at that point, thus this "denies plans". Many trusted pages, I think including Autosport, reported it. Of course that very much LMP-look-a-like silhuette that I posted on last page heated up rumouring.

What Acura is doing is probably not left totally unnoticed.

One could think introduction of KERS in F1 might have made Le Mans less interesting. Then again what they do in F1 they could also convert to LMP, 2-in-1.

So how many Spyder teams are left? van Merksteijn are off to the WRC, Essex no longer exists, Penske might be switching to Toyotas, Dyson to Lolas - that's pretty much all of them, isn't it?

Theys & Lammers will be on the team for LM, third one is a pay driver, considering Lienhard is retiring.

Also Autosport is mentioning in their print edition that Penske is planning to buy two Riley DP's and in the meantime they deny the Toyota rumour..

Peugeot will start in Sebring with 2 cars next year

Also, it appears the main contenders for the RLR BMW drives next year are Jorg and Dirk Muller, Tom Milner and Bill Auberlen
