No one seen the show then? I've seen it on Motors so I guess the tapes have arrived.

I now realise why the damn thing was not shown live anywhere, they don't seem to have enough cameras to cover the entire track :slaphead:

The support races looked better than the A1GP style main race too, especially the legends.

But yeah, not one of the best put together tv packages of a race I've ever seen....

This is like one of those good ideas, executed all wrong.

Or perhaps it is executed correctly, because they are operating within their means (which is clearly limited at this time).

Nigel Melker won race 1 today by about 9 seconds over Bortolotti. They are up to 12 cars this weekend.

The legends were amazing though, I'll watch just for that.

Truck series wasn't too bad either, it was like a decreasing scale of excitement, the inverse of what the series wants when it's support series are much more entertaining.

Also I didn't know the Legends running with FA1 were supposed to be a beefed up, larger scale "super legend", sort of a world championship for all the various Legends series around the world.,
However the cars weren't ready in time for this season so that idea has been delayed until next year.
Hoping this series doesn't go anywhere before then because I'm really curious about this idea.

Yay, this series will be at Slovakia Ring next weekend. Except for the main FA1 race, because the circuit is just a Grade 3.

I'm not going though. They charge 20€ for the cheapest ticket. Comparing to the WTCC's cheapest tickets for 5€ that's a bit too much for couple of 10+ cars races... :slaphead:

I hope those music events make a profit. Because I bet they don't make any money with TV rights and the race events self.

8 cars in MW-V6 PICKUP SERIES, 7 cars in LEGEND SUPERCUP and no FA at Slovakia Ring this weekend - that is poor :slaphead:

+ unknown number of motorbikes. They even let race anyone who pays 150€ for the weekend, without any license...

On the other hand, todays concert seems sold-out, with 20 000 tickets sold...

The Ferrari chassis & engines have been purchased for use in a new South African based series:
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/119206

Quote:
AFRIX Motorsport has purchased all 21 of the 'Powered by Ferrari' A1GP cars that contested the 2008/09 season, as well as their V8 direct-injection engines.

It is planning a short series of approximately four South African events in the European winter of 2015/16 ahead of an extended programme in 2016/17 that could include races elsewhere in Africa.

The old Lola's will be dusted off again to race in a winter series in the middle east (organized by the same people as the acceleration series).

There are not many FIA-homologated tracks that can host this across Africa though. There's obviously Kyalami and Marrakesh which are Grade 2, and incidentally I found out that there's a Grade 3 track in Senegal (Circuit de Dakar Baobabs) which looks pretty cool: https://www.au-senegal.com/circuit-de-d ... ,2991.html

There's probably some potential for street races in a few major cities.

However I'm afraid that this is a very uncommon, expensive and powerful racecar to choose to run such a series. The idea behind the series is very good, but a smaller second-hand single-seater like Formula Renault or similar would've been a better choice to kickstart this - plenty of drivers who already race in small local touring cars could jump straight into it.

I want it to happen

It'd be nice if there was a whole new route to Formula 1/Formula E for African drivers
Even if 80% of the field is people with more money than sense (hell, that might be entertaining), if it unearths one or two drivers that wouldn't be noticed otherwise, it'd be worth it

Also, selfishly, I want more series to run between November and March :P
