Hope this series can get a decent TV deal.

Is that a photo of the original series? I'm thinking no, because I don't recall a Sweden car.

That's the new one. I think Felix Rosenqvist is committed to the Sweden car.

Hopefully this series eventually expands to the Americas, Asia, and Australia. I don't care if it takes 5 years till the first non-European race as long as they do it right and don't put themselves out of business. :)

These cars at Surfers Paradise (yeah even the butchered current layout) would be amazing.

Is there any driver line-up out yet? I've looked on the official site and not seeing it. I don't even see a wikipedia page for this series. Maybe I'm blind?

I thought the original A1GP cars were being used by AutoGP series, with some small modifications to it. Looks like I was completely wrong, those cars are quite similar.

Well, hopefully it turns a success, the promotion is absolutely funny with this music festival, we'll see If it's becoming a joke or not.

AutoGP still uses the A1GP chassis, only heavily modified by Dallara. These are other chassis with the old AutoGP aero.

They must have made a shitload of cars back in the days?

Only highlight packages it seems, no live broadcasts :( But it's better than nothing.

Caught myself one of these days ago watching and remembering all of those awesome A1GP races, never thought I'd miss so much those races back in 2005, 2006, 2007.....it would be so good If we had something similar to that again. I really hope this new Acceleration 1 becomes successful.

It's a risky business as it seems but it doesn't cost a try. Who knows we can have a top level alternative for so many unemployed open wheel drivers.

So the first race is this weekend. Really see we see some entry lists soon. I know all of the cars have been out testing, so they should have a decent field for FA1, the trucks I am not so sure about since I can only remember seeing 3 or 4 pictured running, though more are built.

The 3 drivers I've seen confirmed:
Nigel Melker - Netherlands
Sebastian Balthasar - Germany
Felix Rosenqvist - Sweden

Found this, but it doesnt have Tom Dillman or Team Belgium on it yet, so we'll see how much gets added.

So we have:

4 Sebastian Balthasar - GER (GU)
7 Nigel Melker - NED (Provily)
10 Victor Garcia - ESP (???)
14 Dario Orsini - ITA (???)
15 Sergio Campana - ITA (???)
16 Mirko Bortolotti - ITA (???)
23 Felix Rosenqvist - SWE (Performance)
20 Rodolfo Gonzalez - VEN (???)
38 Picho Toledano - MEX (RC)
42 Armando Parente - POR (Ghinzani)
64 Richard Gonda - SVK
65 Ricardo Teixeira - ANG (Performance)

Ricardo Texeira, oh boy. This grid could bring even worse races than AutoGP. I hope they have enough Lola chassis.

Bortolotti is a Ferrari academy driver so he should be ok talent wise compared to the other drivers.

Would not surprise me if Rosenqvist runs away easily with this.

I expect more flips than A1GP's first season.

Safe racing boys.
