Everything is bigger in Texas. Especially when you have Eddie fucking Gossage as your promoter.

So, after the Penske dominance in Detroit, we head to another oval. Where the only notable thing about the track is Kenny Brack's wicked wreck.

And that scoring error in 1996.

And CART's aborted race in 2001.

The scoring error was in 1997. The first race here was June 6th, 1997.

aha, 600 kilometers. Allan Bestwick said it was 600 miles during Sunday's race which I already assumed was wrong.

I'm not seeing this on NBC Sports Network. My guide shows NHL playoffs.

Well, maybe. Thanks to the Belmont Stakes, the Stanley Cup playoffs are moving to NBC.

So at least per some sources (eg Eddie Gossage) the Texas race has been moved back to NBCSN.

A lot of sources haven't updated and still say CNBC, so I might have to record both. :slaphead:

The hockey game on Saturday is on NBC. They didn't announce the SCF game schedule until a few days ago.

That's disappointing to hear. Less downforce is exactly what was making these races better.

Here's hoping that they spend all of free practice running in a pack, Indycar shits itself afterwards and undoes the change.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

They're not adding a ton of downforce. From what I've read, they're just trying to get things closer to the 2012 levels which made for better racing than the 2013 Texas aero package that had even lower downforce than 2012.

Yes exactly.. the 2012 race was good but 2013 was bad because they took off too much df. They tried to run the Indy/Pocono trim which was too little.

Juan Pablo Montoya made 17 NASCAR starts at Texas Motor Speedway, but he's a newcomer to the speed on the 1.455-mile, high-banked oval in a Verizon IndyCar Series car.

Did they re-measure the track using the SAFER barrier instead of the wall now, or was it just always off? It's the first I've seen that number.

It's always been wrong, that's why the speeds are so fast and DW has a fit every time Cup goes there, the track is shorter than the 1.5 advertised length. Indycar takes the FIA track length rather than the NASCAR way of doing it which is round to the nearest easy to understand for a redneck deciminal.

And this is where it gets really stupid. SMI's sister track in Atlanta is 1.54.. and it's advertised at 1.54. They run 325 laps there vs 334 at Charlotte to make the 500 miles. Why the hell don't they run 343 laps at Texas to make up for it?? Man how ridiculous.

1.54 is easier to understand than 1.455 apparently lol
