I saw Toto was starting new threads for this year's championships so I assumed that was the done thing.

7 cars is absolutely bloody pathetic, especially when you consider that they are opening the chassis regs back to 2008.

It'll be nine for Thruxton at least and I'd be surprised if Spa was still in single figures. They're in the doldrums right now and I guess they're going to have to fight hard to bring the prestige back.

Wonder how many potential entries the FIA frightened off with their comments earlier this year.

I'm there are the moment. British GT has 31 cars. The minis, VW cup, and Ginettas all have 20 - 30. F4 has 20. And then F3 rolled out... Really sad.

Other than a spin on lap one, there wasn't a single overtake. At least the reverse grid will pretty much reverse the whole field!

Doubly sad considering the good tast numbers and racing at Spa today.
Even the Euroformula guys have respectable numbers in comparison

I guess this season is a write off and all focus must now switch to 2015 to ensure there is a British F3 to look forward to in the future.

Finally got round to watching the highlights, with a decent field could have been an amazing weekend. Race 1 very wet, cars aquaplaning everywhere, race 2 dry then wet with some of the field sticking on slicks, some changing for wets, then race 3 dry. As it was was pretty dull with only 7 cars in the field. Highlight was probably in race 2 where someone showed how stupid tarmac run off is in the wet and actually reached the barrier at copse, and then only 3 cars finishing race 2.

I really don't understand why they're bothering this year, doesn't the MSA stop series with very few entries?

They usually revoke championship status if a championship fails to average 18 starters over the course of a year. Not sure how that works for Grade A British championships though.

British and German Formula 3 series eye 2015 calendar collaboration

The British Formula 3 Championship could link up with the German F3 Cup to create a joint calendar in 2015 designed to encourage teams to compete in both series.

The idea has been proposed by Peter Briggs, boss of British F3 teams' association FOTA, in the face of a grid that has peaked at seven cars over the three races held in Britain so far.

"It is a preliminary idea: we have suggested a joint calendar of eight to 10 races with five grand prix tracks - Silverstone, Spa, Hockenheim, the Nurburgring and the Red Bull Ring - that would be attractive to teams from both series," said Briggs.

"We'd like to work out dates with the German organisers and then get an agreement from the teams to compete in both.

"Nothing has been agreed; so far it is just a case of getting people together and saying, 'What do you think?'"

Briggs stressed that the plan is not for a merger, which would not be allowed under FIA rules governing national series.

British F3 promoter Stephane Ratel said he would "follow the ideas of the teams" and was open to any suggestions that would increase the number of cars on the grid.

He added that a grid of about 14 cars was required to make the championship viable.

An influx of German series cars for the British round at Spa on July 25-26 should boost the grid to that level.

Motopark is planning to run two or three cars, ADM Motorsport two and Van Amersfoort Racing is close to finalising deals to field two entries.

As Andy Chang has been drafted into the European series, Thruxton sees 5 cars turn out.

If there aren't enough cars to make it an official race if it was iRacing, there's no point running it.
