Just catching up with the weekend, watching a DULL European F3 race then suprise RAIN

This is far too much for the race director to handle as despite the conditions being damp at best, immediate SC is deployed and as it's lap 17 of 21..RED FLAG

:slaphead:

Well, there is no new way to make this tired old point on this forum

Saying that, when these kids get to F1 though there'll be a whole generation that has no idea how to race a dry/wet or wet/dry race as any time water comes near a track they are shepherded off it.

they raced with rain at pau so they let them race in these conditions but this time it was not quite logical to continue as there was brutal change weather.

And just after SC, raing was pouring down a lot.

The track has a pit lane, it's there to be used. That was just a typical FIA series decision.

In my time what they used to do was stop it and let us change tyres then restart because not everybody, even at f3 level, had enough people let alone equipment to do a 3 second tyre change. As much as I'm a member of the racing is too safe moaning old mans club, you just can't have cars running round on slicks in pouring rain.

I guess they didn't think it necessary to restart it for 5 laps.

Did anyone see the European Open (F3, fuck you FIA) race on Motors TV today?

3 seperate first lap accidents and it was a destruction derby throughout.

Sporadic bursts of good racing though, forgot how good a track Portimao is...;)

This is nuts. Verstappen v Berger for a new age. Max taking liberties in defending along Kemmel.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Great race though, 3 abreast for many occasions and grest passing elsewhere.

F3 cars are really suited to spa!

Yes.

Calderon in the top 5 on what appears to be merit.

Amazing cameraman at the start of race 2!

Car hit to the inside barrier, starts taking off as it spins back into traffic....nahhh, lets pan away.
