His problem is that he's inconsistent.

Some races, he has flashes of brilliance, others he's a running joke of the field. He's a good driver, but he needs to churn out consistent runs.

It's nice to see the drivers big up the track. I think they should look at the downforce package, and PTP would work great here.

Well it was a good and very hot day at Pocono. I've picked up some nice gardener's suntan. I ticked a few more things of my "to see" list - open wheelers on an oval, an indycar race, a 3-wide start! The race seemed to get strung out quite quickly but I knew it would build up over the course to an intense finish. The Ganassi cars surprised me how they came through the field so easily on fuel strategy and the opposite was certainly true for Marco. I saw the tail end of the Sato / Hunter-Rey incident, I'm not sure I agree with Ryan's finger-pointing claim that Sato has now probably cost him the title. I'd suggest he thinks back to Detroit before making those tyres of comments again.

When I bought tickets a week ago, there were not many seats available to choose from. However sitting there in the stands yesterday (I was directly in front of Hunter-Rey's pit stall), I would hazard a guess that they were barely 50% full. The atmosphere was very flat. There was little passion for the series compared to the Sprint Cup event I saw in 2011.

We have to hope that will come. 50% stands when the track has two SC races within 2 months isn't a bad thing IMO to start from, and the stands didn't look too empty on TV, but as soon as the race was over, it looked like they all left in a hurry.

The racing for them would have been good I think, but not too magical. Hopefully, when you consider how dull the SC races are, they will come back next year for more.

Watched this. I really enjoy seeing IndyCar back at Pocono. I think I'll try to make the attempt to go there next year. Also, I don't think that the crowd was anywhere near the size of a Cup race there. That one camera shot from high above, looking directly at the stands clearly showed that. But, again, I definitely think I will attempt to go next year and help those numbers.

Dunno how much passion the Cup crowd usually shows, but the section I saw the second half of the race from had some very vocal Andretti fans. Think I'll see if they can figure out a better tire/aero package next year and maybe go back in '15.

There was a good bit of passion in the stands by us. I will sit through a 1000 miles of Indycar at Pocono before I ever sit through another Cup race. The Indycars single file Sunday were more exciting then the tin tops.

Honestly, the crowd was pretty good. Far better than I expected. I'd think they had around 45,000 there Sunday. The track seats around 80,000 I think. That's something to build on.

Note to anyone for the future: The top row of the grandstand in front of the tower is in the shade at noon, so we weren't in the sun at all on Sunday. Made a pleasent viewing experience. The Indycars were FAST at Pocono. Having seen them in the CART days at Nazareth I had some point of comparison but man, they were really cool to see on the big track. Both my parents and my wife enjoyed the race and I'll be hanging onto my four tickets for next years race.

The Limerock/Pocono double is a bit much, but as long as they keep this schedule I won't complain. Would be nice for temps about 10 degrees cooler though.

And we discovered a bit of a secret way into and out of the track. We hung out in the parking lot for about an hour or so, go in the car, and in 20 mins were out of the track, out of any traffic and on our way home. Don't be afraid of two lane roads in the middle of nowhere. They lead you to where you need to go.

I think this race was good, but not great.

The first race anywhere is rarely a classic, but it takes time to build a legendary race and the most important thing we can take from this race is that it has potential.
It'll always be one of the special races we look forward to from now on, all out, high speed, balls to the wall proper racing.

Just hope it makes enough money to stick around for many years to come. :)

It may have also turned out differently had they run 100 more miles (e.g. Kimball winning :yuk: ) .

I'm just happy they actually ran at Pocono.

On the contrary, I think the Hondas would have dropped back with the extra 500 miles as the fuel saving would have not paid out for them. Then again having a one more yellow after Sato's kamikaze pitstops might have done the same thing...or the fact having different aerokit or (dare I say this) MORE POWEEER!

Any reason why it was only 400 miles and not 500? Fontana was 500 miles last year so why not make the "triple crown" all 500 milers?
